Finally!  The second  part of my interview with Borai from the summer of 2023. I recommend you listen to Part 1 first for the full story but hey feel free to do whatever you want too of course. 

I met up with Boris English, who you may better know how as Borai. Breakbeat artist extraordinaire, solo artist of great repute, a corner stone of bass music in Bristol , part for the excellent Club Glow crew and one half of the Off Beat modern hard house project with Don'tforgettogohome. Borai was super generous with his time and not only shares with us his own story but gives us insights into the evolution of bass music in Bristol from its Jungle roots though dubstep to the present day. Alongside this we get the production tips, lessons from the music business, a guided tour of his treasure trove of a studio and of course the story of that record with that sample!

As always on the Bass Scoops we cut the interviews with some choice selections along the way from the artists back catalog and a track or too that inspired them.

Borai In Conversation With Bass Scoops Radio Part 2

Broadcasting from the South West of the UK expect a lot of jungle, dub, hardcore and sounds loosely termed "rave".  The more "left field" the better and our selectors try to bring a few less heard cuts to the mix. We love the roots of the scene, respecting  the forefathers and mothers of the music so we'll be dropping some classics  in with the new tracks pushing bass music forward. Alongside the above genres we can't miss out on a good tune so  you'll also hear  acid house, balearic , house and their  evolutionary  offspring  like trip hop, dubstep, d&b, UK Garage and more...

Immersed in music from an early age, the man like Obsidian Wave was born and raised in London. Coming up through the Jungle and Hardcore era, surrounded by pirate radio and illegal raves, these sounds are interlaced into his heavy, raw brand of techno and breaks to create a cutting edge sound with strong ties to the past.
