Levi Nicoll (aka L Nix) is no stranger to the bass music scene with releases spanning a decade. Hailing from Nelson BC Canada Levi started the craft in 2005. For a long time junglist it was natural to start with drum and bass and took to it with passion. It was about 2008 when L Nix heard the true inviting nature of dubstep and has been releasing it in one form or another. Whether it via the duo Orbatak or solo most of the dubstep was much more distorted, harder and heavy bass related production. It was roughly 2012 when L Nix made the change into the more intelligent and mature deep dark sounds that reminded him of the older days of drum & bass, speed garage and two-step, the main influences of his from years past. Levi runs A&R at Iron Shirt Recordings is currently signed to these labels : Iron Shirt Recordings, Vinyl Vigilance, Southside Dubstars UK and Really Good Recordings.

2020 has been a wicked intense year for me, as I am sure it has been for many of you. Originally, I had envisioned playing my first festival set and releasing music of my own by this time in the year. I also had a few streams lined up where I had planned on debuting originals, but life has a funny way of happening. Despite the ebbs and flows, 2020 has provided me with more opportunities to grow, both as an individual and as an artist, than I ever could have imagined being possible. Throughout this year, I've been juggling finishing up my senior year of college and working towards making music that I truly identify with, and while this has deemed challenging, it has only reinforced the ways I look forward to applying my knowledge & skills when I complete my degree.

Within my free time, I’ve been really tapping into the cathartic and soothing properties of music. For me, this has meant rediscovering the music that helped me through dark periods in my life, and then drawing upon those sources of inspiration in my own art. Something about the raw emotionality of hearing harsh vocals over melodies that give you goosebumps has always really spoken to me as much of life seems to be different manifestations of that type of bittersweet juxtaposition. With this set, I explore this concept in its various forms - ranging from lush, mesmerizing glitch-hop to the darker sides of deep dubstep & IDM (including some original music from yours truly). 

This is as much an expression of the feelings I have been encountering this year as it is an attempt at making sense of them. I hope that this set is as therapeutic for those that experience it as it was for me to put it together. Thanks for all your continued support, especially if you read this far!
