This theme is reprised several times, called The Heart Asks Pleasure First/The Promise/The Sacrifice. It is based on a traditional Scottish tune titled "Gloomy Winter's Noo Awa".

The instrument is a Clavia Nord Stage 2, using a sampled Yamaha C7 grand piano, and one single note of sampled strings.
