Présentement à sa deuxième année d'édition, le Festival de Musique de Chambre de Bathurst est un événement annuel qui rassemble des artistes talentueux en provenance des provinces maritimes pour présenter des concerts et offrir des ateliers, des présentations et autres projets culturels ici à Bathurst.

Fondé en 2013, ce festival est un projet organisé par David Scott et Ariane Saulnier, deux jeunes musiciens de la région. C'est avec quatre musiciens d'ailleurs (de Moncton, Fredericton et Lunenberg [N-É]) et avec trois musiciens de la région Chaleur, ainsi qu'une semaine de répétitions intensives que le festival a offert ses deux premiers concerts au public lors de sa première édition.

En revanche, cette année, grâce au succès de l'année dernière et au support de la communauté, le festival peut s'agrandir pour offrir plus de concerts, plus de projets avec plus de musiciens.

L'édition 2014 du Festival de Musique de Chambre de Bathurst présentera quatre ou cinq récitals et concerts présentés en anglais et en français. Aussi, nos artistes seront dans les écoles anglophones et francophones pour donner des présentations et des ateliers pour les élèves des cours de musique. Nous allons aussi permettre aux gens de découvrir la musique classique à travers des performances situées à différents endroits dans la communauté tels que des restaurants, des cafés ou autres lieux publics.

Pour célébrer et représenter notre communauté, quelques œuvres de notre répertoire seront composées par de jeunes compositeurs pour le festival. Le thème de ces nouvelles œuvres portera sur notre patrimoine.

Currently in it’s second year of operation as an annual event, the Bathurst Chamber Music Festival brings renowned performing artists from around the maritimes to New Brunswick’s north-east to present various musical outreach projects, including concerts, lectures, masterclasses, and workshops.

The festival is a project by local musicians David Scott, and Ariane Saulnier, who co-founded it in 2013. Originally, it had brought in four guest artists from Moncton, Fredericton, and Lunenburg (NS), in addition to three local artists from Bathurst, Beresford, and Petit Rocher for a week of intensive rehearsals and two public recitals. 

The success of this festival in its first year has caught the attention of musicians from around the country, creating the potential for expansion: More musicians, more concerts, more outreach.

In 2014, the Bathurst Chamber Music Festival will present four or five public recitals and concerts in venues in both anglophone and francophone communities. Additionally, our artists will present workshops and lectures for young musicians in the English and French school districts. We will also reach out to those who may not normally show an interest in art-music by busking in various places throughout the community. 

In celebration of our community, we will be commission young composers to write new music about local heritage to be performed publicly and recorded by the musicians of the festival.

Daniel Cabanzo (Colombie, né en 1979) est un artiste pluridisciplinaire qui s’intéresse aux différentes formes d’expression d’art, il étudie la musique à l'Université du Valle à Cali - Colombie, puis la composition en France depuis 2006. Il est titulaire d’un master de Musique appliquée aux arts visuels à l'Université de Lyon 2 et d’un master d’Acousmatique et arts sonores à l'université de Marne-la-Vallé et le GRM (Groupe de recherches musicales- INA). En 2013, Il a étudie à la Haute École Musique de Genève en Suisse avec Michael Jarrell, Luis Naon et Eric Daubresse professeurs qui l’ont influencé vers les nouvelles technologies musicales. Il est lauréat du prix de composition de Cergy-Pontoise et du prix Roux et Tronchet de l’Académie des Beaux- Arts en France, aussi lauréat d’une bourse de la SACEM pour étudier dans le Cursus I à l’IRCAM en 2014. Il participe à l’académie Manifeste organisé par l’IRCAM dans le cadre de l’atelier In Vivo Electro 2015, il a collaboré avec Le Fresnoy - Studio National des arts contemporaines pour l’édition de Panorama 2016 et réalise le visuel en temps réel de l’évènement « Piano Remix » en collaboration avec le Conservatoire de région Lille et le design sonore de l'oeuvre Artefact 01 de Mathilde Lavenne. Lauréat du prix Ibermusicas 2018 avec l’institution DME à Portugal. Actuellement il réalise son PhD en musicologie à l’Université Paris-Sorbonne et l’IRCAM (directeur de recherche Mikhail Malt). Il a été joué par plusieurs ensembles comme le Court-Circuit, Ensemble du Bout du Monde, Gardiens de la paix, Awkas, Barcelona Modern Project entre autres.

Edward Enman is a classical pianist and composer whose original musical style has been shaped by the lush lyricism of Sigur Rós and the rhythmic drive of John Adams, while taking on a powerful warmth all its own. His inventive voice draws from storytelling, cinema, and visual art, while incorporating electronic elements and style-blurring writing.

As a recording artist, performer, and creator, Edward strives to create meaningful connections with listeners while breaking down stylistic barriers in the classical music world. He holds an enthusiasm for compelling programming and enjoys combining the old with the new.

Edward’s first full-length albums of original music Breathe In, Breathe Out (2022), and Insights (2023) have each been nominated for Classical Album/Composer of the Year from the East Coast Music Awards and the Nova Scotia Music Awards. His newest 2023 release Insights features Edward as pianist and composer in a 12-part work for solo piano.

As a soloist and collaborative performer, he performs regularly across Canada, and his compositions have been premiered and performed around the world. Edward was pianist and arranger on the 2023 album Je me souviens à toi with singer Rose Naggar-Tremblay and bassist Gabriel Lapointe. In 2024-2025, he will be releasing two solo albums: WE ARE HERE, and Silver Light: Fantasies on Poems by Sara Teasdale while also being featured as a contributing composer on rap artist Quinton Barnes’ new recording project.

Dr. Enman holds degrees in solo piano performance from the University of Montréal (DMus), University of Ottawa (MMus), and Acadia University (BM). He is a part-time instructor at Acadia University, a vocal coach at the Fountain School of Performing Arts, and a teacher on faculty at the Scotia Suzuki School of Music in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he lives with his family.
