Bio:

Ironically, given the fact that they've got “Tactics” in their name, Mob Tactics came about quite by chance.

Mark was producing as The Funktion, and Luke, in his role as label manager for RUN DNB, liked what he heard and signed some of his tracks. It became apparent that Mark and Luke's taste in music was ridiculously similar and, over the course of a few weekends, they decided to get in each others studios and see what happened.

What happened was “Gunjack” & “Stick-up Kid”, two tunes which would go on to be supported by some of the biggest deejays in the business, and become the first Mob Tactics release. That was back in 2010 and, in the intervening years, these two have seemingly never let the momentum drop for a moment.

Early releases on Mob Tactics' own Tactical Recordings label, like “Kansas” and “Fugazi”, established their brand of drum & bass. Complex and technical, but with an irresistible edge of funk aimed straight at the dancefloor, no wonder they quickly caught the ear of the likes of Andy C, DJ Hype, Crissy Criss, and Chase & Status.

And these luminaries weren't just offering deejay support for Mob Tactics tunes, they wanted to sign them. DJ Hype's Playaz grabbed the massive Elephant Man collab “Crazy Hype”, Andy C secured “Wolf Trap” for the “Nightlife 6” compilation, and since then has come back for more several times. Eatbrain, MTA, C4C, Charge, Viper...the list of huge imprints who've wanted a taste of the Mob Tactics sound goes on.

Recent years have seen Mob Tactics revel in creative freedom. Releases like the “Body Check EP” and the Ryme Tyme-laced “Tweakers” have demonstrated multiple facets to their sound. Unconstrained by sub-genre limitations, the one thread that binds all their work is that commitment to making ravers move.

Anyone who's witnessed one of their blazing deejay sets anywhere around the globe will testify to the vibes and energy Mob Tactics bring to a dance. And, even since opening up their personal dub collection to the masses with their “Mob Vaults” releases on BandCamp, the amount of firepower they're packing on their USBs shows no sign of diminishing.

So, this is Mob Tactics. Signed and certified by some of the biggest deejays and labels in the scene, we've got a feeling they're just getting started...

A little bit about René LaVice

From the humble beginnings of finding out about Drum & Bass music via the late night broadcasts on Toronto’s College Radio stations (88.1FM & 89.5FM) while growing up, René has travelled worlds away from where he started. Flash forward a decade or so, René’s own productions are now hailed around the world as some of the genre’s most iconic and innovative records in electronic dance music. He’s flown worldwide performing shows and cultivating the sound of Drum & Bass as a true tastemaker and leader in the genre. 

As though coming full circle, René was approached by the BBC about creating his own specialist show on Radio 1, so in 2017, following in the footsteps of legendary former hosts Fabio & Grooverider, and Friction, René is now the Drum & Bass representative on the world’s biggest platform. 
 
As a producer, René LaVice’s sounds are unmistakable. Known for combining different styles and influences with his own sensibility, his music has a thumbprint which stands out in the mix. Nowhere could this be more evident than in his first breakthrough track ‘Headlock,’ which took the scene by storm and turned heads of tastemakers worldwide onto what would soon become one of dance music’s most exciting producers. Since then, René’s made a string of hits, such as The Calling ft. Ivy Mairi, a musical hybrid unlike any other which was A-Listed on Radio 1 for weeks and hit the billboard top 40 dance chart. 

Renowned for his remix track record and ability to turn a song upside down, he has remixed an impressive roster of artists such as Diplo, DJ Fresh, Craig David & The Prodigy, making him a highly sought after remix artist.  He released 3 albums on the illustrious Ram Records which earned him the respect of young fans and veteran DJ’s alike. 

Having the support of touring Drum & Bass royalty such as Andy C, Goldie & Randall combined with attention from Radio presenters and tastemakers such as Annie Mac, Mistajam, Zane Lowe, Nick Grimshaw, Greg James, and Scott Mills is like a dream to any young producer and René’s skills as a performer and a DJ have been consolidated thanks to touring all around the globe and turning even the most unlikely shows upside down. Known for crowdsurfing at his gigs, he may sound like a bit of 
an anomaly when it comes to dance music. The excitement he feels from his music is as captivating as it is infectious. Having performed shows at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Download, EDC, and world class venues like Brixton Academy, Fabric, and Alexandra Palace, René has evolved into one of the most exciting headlining acts in dance music. 

Now living in London, UK, one can only speculate where René LaVice’s journey through music will lead next.

Kalle Mattson is a Juno & Polaris Music Prize nominated singer/songwriter based in Canada.

Brooklyn based Praveen Sharma has always taken a genre absorbing, dancefloor-oriented approach to his output as Braille,  effortlessly floating through house, techno, melancholic ambient and UK Bass. His singles on European labels Rush Hour (“The Year 3000”) and Hotflush Recordings (“A Meaning”) were critically acclaimed and set the stage for his full length album debut on LA based label Friends of Friends (“Mute Swan”). With an ear for sentimental melodies and an unprecedented step into the vocal arena, Braille’s first full-length demonstrated his ability to step outside the dancefloor box. Braille’s return to Hotflush with “Stand Still” marks an infusion of color and optimism to his sound and sets the stage for a renewed focus on the dance.

Praveen Sharma has been making a diverse range of music from folk to juke since 2004. He has released as “Praveen” on Neo Ouija, Moodgadget and Supermartyr Records, “Praveen & Benoît” on Music Related, and alongside Machinedrum as one half of the Pitchfork “Best New Music” awarded “Sepalcure” on Hotflush Recordings.

DJ Illatek is a regular night club DJ and event host with over 15 years experience who has played everywhere from student raves in Birmingham to upmarket footballers hang outs in London, and further afield with residencies in Tenerife, Bombay, Faliraki and Prague.   You may also find him hosting events like The Acton Carnival or backstage at The Wireless Festival or on the red carpet at The MOBO's.

No genre is out of bounds for him and and an open format DJ he can often be seen to play a set with 5 different music styles, which has seen him winning two local DJ competitions. He has had residencies at NYT, 10 Rooms and Trap in Central London, The Works in Birmingham, Flavas in Ealing as regular sets all over including Garage Nation and Pure Temptation.

Illatek has a passion for mashups and refixes and many have been played on the BBC, Westside Radio and Bang radio.

Illatek also throws his own events from time to time and has promoted nights in Birmingham, Northampton and London, such as a monthly night at The Blag Club in Ladbroke Grove together with Dev from Radio 1 and Darren B (Trevor Nelson's producer) which saw people such as Bashy, More Fire Crew and Ricky & Melvin from Kiss turn up just to have a good time, as well as his "Get Your Swagger On" parties in West London featuring performances from Donaeo, Funky Dee and Juggy D to name but a few.

Illatek has performed guest mixes on many radio shows including DJ Kayper's show, and also DJ Limelight & Kan D man's (BBC Asian Network).  Radio has long been a passion and Illatek has been on the airwaves for years killing shows on Freeze FM, Manic FM.com, Unknown FM, Ouch FM, 2SG.Com, Urban Sound, BBA Radio, Invincible Radio, Bashment FM, Westside 89.6FM, a station which he helped to launch working as a deputy manager for two years. 

Guests on his radio show have included Bashy, Tinie Tempah, Sean Paul, Brandy, Joe, The Alchemist, Jay Sean and Marques Houston. He has also played alongside the biggest names in the scene including Spoony, Trevor Nelson, Semtex, G Child, Mix Master Mike, The Ill Kidz, and Shortee Blitz to name a few.

As an official Warner/Atlantic Street Team DJ he has been a part of promotional marketing campaigns for Twista, Sean Paul, Fabolous, Little Brother, Brandy and more. Recently Illatek has started working more closely with local artists such as A G Dolla whom he has done exclusive mixes for.

He has also taken part in Sam Khan's "I Love Your Lady" video feat Charlie Sloth, as a DJ, which to date has received over 2000,000 views and is playlisted on channel AKA.

He currently has a regular radio show on Londons Westside Radio 89.6FM (www.thisiswestside.com).
