Enregistré sur un simple accompagnement de rythmiques, il évoque les dettes médicales, les impôts élevés et la pauvreté vécue à l'époque de l'alunissage d'Apollo.
Le poème critique les ressources consacrées au programme spatial alors que les Noirs américains subissaient des disparités sociales et économiques dans leur pays.
"Whitey on the Moon" a été repris dans le film biographique de Damien Chazelle en 2018 sur Neil Armstrong, First Man.
Il a connu un regain d'intérêt en 2021 à la suite des vols spatiaux des milliardaires Jeff Bezos et Richard Branson, qui ont été considérés comme emblématiques des inégalités mises en évidence par le poème.
Du coup j'en ai fait un remix.

"Whitey on the Moon" is a spoken-word poem by Gil Scott-Heron from 1970.
Recorded to a simple rhythmic accompaniment, it evokes the medical debts, high taxes and poverty experienced at the time of the Apollo moon landing.
The poem criticizes the resources devoted to the space program at a time when black Americans were suffering social and economic disparities at home.
"Whitey on the Moon" was featured in Damien Chazelle's 2018 biographical film about Neil Armstrong, First Man.
It received renewed attention in 2021 following the space flights of billionaires Jeff Bezos and Richard Branson, which were seen as emblematic of the inequalities highlighted by the poem.
So I made a remix.

"Vision" est le fruit de la collaboration avec mon ami Benoit Black, saxophoniste. Cette track incarne la rencontre entre la musique Mao et l'instrumental, offrant plus qu'une simple composition, mais une expérience humaine.

À l'introduction de "Vision", la voix distinctive de Jim Morrison prise lors d'une interview en 1969, annonce avec une clairvoyance déconcertante, le futur de la musique.
Une vision avangardiste et anticipatrice, remettant en question la notion même de création musicale dans un monde futuriste informatisé.  

Ce titre serait un appel à la réflexion sur la musique contemporaine.

Loin d'être un outil limitant, j'aime présenter celle-ci comme un catalyseur d'innovation, une toile sur laquelle également l'âme créative peut s'exprimer sans entraves. 

Sur une atmosphère musicale mystique et émotive, incitant l'auditeur à plonger dans une introspection musicale profonde, ce titre est une ode à la créativité, une célébration de la diversité artistique qui émerge lorsque les genres se rencontrent.

Une invitation à explorer les infinies possibilités de la création musicale dans un monde en constante évolution.

"Vision" is the result of the collaboration with my friend Benoit Black, saxophonist. This track embodies the encounter between Mao music and instrumentals, offering more than just a composition, but a human experience. At the introduction of "Vision", Jim Morrison's distinctive voice taken during an interview in 1969, announces with disconcerting foresight, the future of music. An avant-garde and anticipatory vision, questioning the very notion of musical creation in a futuristic computerized world.
This title would be a call to reflection on contemporary music. Far from being a limiting tool, I like to present it as a catalyst for innovation, a canvas on which the creative soul can also express itself without hindrance. Set to a mystical and emotive musical atmosphere, prompting the listener to dive into deep musical introspection, this track is an ode to creativity, a celebration of the artistic diversity that emerges when genres meet. An invitation to explore the infinite possibilities of music creation in an ever-changing world.

Five years have gone by since the last Flashbaxx release LIVINGROOM ADVENTURES. In the meantime, the title track appeared on dozens of compilations all over the world, among these giants like JAZZANOVA, TOSCA and MO' HORIZONS, just to name a few. But stagnancy is strange to Daniel Stenger: he worked as remixer and producer (PNFA, KayGrove, NUDE), performed sets
as DJ and live gigs with his electronic live act SONIC SOUL DIVISION, founded his custom sound company BAXXBEATMUSIC, produced and licensed music for TV-commercials and image movies (Riu Hotels, BAT, Deutsche Bank, Trekstore etc... ), released the debut album HERBST with the post-rock band FITZCARRALDO and toured 40 cities in three countries.

In January 2008, the label division has been added to BAXXBEATMUSIC. The upcoming release FLASHBAXX – The Changing Tides EP is the first BAXXBEATMUSIC artist release and also marks a big change in Flashbaxx' musical style: the tides have changed..

Goodbye Soundscape – Hello Groove!

Far away from exchangeable Chill Out productions without any soul, THE CHANGING TIDES EP impresses with a fresh organic mood, with smooth beats and an invincible passion for sampled instruments or instruments played by the boss himself. Whereas some kind of „sound fatcap“ is used for one track (IMU), the other shows off with great focus on details (VOODOO THERAPY).
Artfully programmed NuJazz breaks meet a deep Rhodes Piano (CHANGING TIDES), and the simple lick of a semi-acoustic Hohner guitar turns a Lounge track into a catchy tune (STAINLESS). The audience slides from Hip-Hop to House flavoured tracks, but actually never changes the genre. The record perfectly suits the living room as well as the dance floor. With THE CHANGING TIDES EP Daniel Stenger aka Flashbaxx has doubtlessly released a great album. With its playing time of 40 minutes it can't be called EP anymore. But we, at BAXXBEATMUSIC, don't give a damn about that, as long as the music is as good as this one right here!
