Having finished a classic groove-a-dellic rework on Nasa Funk’s remix EP for BBP late last year, we kept on making plans with the man from South East UK. A consistent evolution in the meaning of soul, while addicted to bass and riding on pure emotion, Anj Jackson's exhilarating presence behind the decks is a sure-fire way to keep you dancing all night long. Anj Jackson was passionate about music at a very young age, specifically classic rock, alternative, 90's hip-hop, and Much Music's dance mixes. House music legends such as Daftpunk, Mark Farina, and Basement Jaxx exposed her to the underground world of dance music, and she was hooked. Originating from the Great White North in the far northwestern corner of Canada, she is always ready to throw down and brings an attitude that comes standard. Since discovering the decks, you will be hard-pressed to get her off again. Moving more central, Anj found herself immediately involved with local creators and organizers and has since become pervasive in nightclubs and major music festivals across the whole of Western Canada. Her go-to style is rolling bass-line house, on the deeper side, and is currently following artists such as Scott Diaz, Gorgon City, Darius Syrossian, FISHER, Riva Starr, and Kyle Watson. Wiccatron & Sonale - Xmas Swing

With his stage name coming from his love of late 60s Jamaican deejay U-Roy and his light skin, U-Brown began his deejaying career as the 1970s dawned. In the mid-70s he began working with major producer Bunny Lee, and soon got a chance to deejay on King Tubby's Hi-Fi. U-Brown's hyped-up version of U-Roy jive-saturated talkover style sounded great over the heavy dubs mixed by Tubby, and he ended up deejaying many of the top sounds in Jamaica from 1970 to 1985. He's continued to deejay and produce ever since.

In-between a few gigs with French sound system Soul Stereo, he came to the Paris DJs studio in december 2014 to cut a few new tracks with producer Grant Phabao, starting with this neo-classic 'Mr. DJ Let The Music Play', recorded on one of Phabao's biggest riddims, the 'Honey' one he had build over the Erykah Badu's hit of the same name.

U-Brown's unmistakeable deejay flow with a stylistic debt to the deejay godfather is a delectation to hear voiced and mixed with Grant Phabao at the controls. Somehow echoing U-Brown's first production in 1977, the 'Please Mr Deejay' hit by Carlton Livingston, 'Mr. DJ Let The Music Play', with its dynamic skanking and shoutouts rocks the dance hall instantly with bubbles of joy exploding from the turntables!

Getting the chance to record in the studio with soul legend Sir Joe Quarterman was one of the highlights of the year for Fort Knox Five, and the track Don't Go became an instant funk classic. As soon as the single was released, we heard from some of our close friends who were eager to rework the track and we are proud to present these two fine remixes from K+Lab and Trotter. 

First up is New Zealand's own K+Lab, who brings live synths and keys to the forefront on his glitched out funky bass remix. The original vocals and horns are layered on top of his beefed up beats and heavy bass stabs. This remix takes the soul of the original and injects it with a heavy dose of modern glitched out funk transforming it into a dancefloor scorcher. 

Not to be outdone is Trotter, our man in Sao Paulo, who strips out the original's retro funk feel replacing it with a swinging future funk vibe. Bouncing and bubbling synth lines run throughout the remix, dominating the track to create a modern P-Funk groove. Trotter's remix shows his versatile production skills by tweaking the old school flavor of the original track and bringing it into the new millennium. 

Fort Knox Recordings is stoked to start the new year with a bang, enlisting two fantastic artists who delivered their debut Fort Knox Five remixes on this single. These remixes take the track in two distinct directions; glitch-hop and future funk, however they both follow Sir Joe's advice, “Step back three times, aww turn it around!” Instrumental version of both tracks are also available, making this a must have for funk DJs across the globe.

Founded by Boe Pedersen (Dj BadboE) in Denmark, and now based in Florida. The label originates from the music website Breakbeat Paradise that has been running since 1996. Breakbeat Paradise is dedicated to breakers and electronic musicians within the style of music that we can loosely term as breakbeat. Developing and improving this website over the last 10 years to include everything from visitor music sharing, annual breakbeat contests, samplekits and discussion forum. We felt that going into digital music distribution would be a natural next step.

The music material on the Breakbeat Paradise website has over 1000 pieces of music. Breakbeat Paradise Recordings will  pick up the very best  “cream of the crop”, artists  and tunes and release them as digital downloads through Breakbeat Paradise Recordings  collaborative partners . We found digital distribution would match perfect with our cutting-edge funky breakbeat music and the fastest way from  the streets – to the listener and dancefloor!

With only exclusive vinyl and digital releases , we are always focused on the most important thing for us – the music! 

The music will span from traditional nu funk and funky breaks to more dancefloor oriented ghetto funk,  future funk and big beat as well as hip hop with a glitch and the more mellow side of the drum ‘n’ bass and nu breaks. The sound of Breakbeat Paradise is driven by an emphatic beat that is intended to form a leitmotif between the releases.

Even though releases from Breakbeat Paradise will be coming from different artists, we always uniform a sound by focusing within the genres of breakbeat.  Collaborators and musicians work close together on our label and we are always ensuring a brand of selective “state of the art“, quality and sound .

We will devote ourselves to deliver the phattest, funkiest and the biggest grooves to be found out there...
