Bringing big alpha energy for number 112 is Alpha Tracks himself, straight outta Vienna for your listening pleasure. When it comes to trance, few peope do it like this guy. His approach to DJing as well as his own productions has a refined element to it that has set him apart from his contemporaries for a while now. Since he started to DJ at the age of 14, Alpha Tracks has only gained more acclaim in the scene, often being mistaken for a long-standing veteran. His attention to detail and his passion for the ravey, trancey 90's inspired sound have made him a standout-figure in the trance-revival movement.

This podcast is an actual live recording from a gig at Tag in Chengdu, China. @thetruemcmlxxxv says, "The selection is very intuitive as I did not know that the set would be recorded. Which I actually prefer as it kept me playing really just what I liked without having to worry too much about whether I played a track already in a mix. Long story short: this set is pretty much me at the moment. Relentless body. I had the most amazing time playing it and I will always look back at this night in awe. Chinese promoters and club owners face really tough times at the moment imposed on them by the government, especially when the LGBTQIA community is targeted by the police. Hope this one carries their message a bit further."

'LOLSNAKE sits right at the heart of Berlin's bubbling underground as a DJ, promoter and label founder. Born in Oakland, California but with Iraqi heritage, she is the founder of the long-running queer party Weeeirdos which she started in order to "arouse fun and freedom" in an often all too serious scene. The party plays out at Säule but has also been hosted at the likes of Berghain while LOLSNAKE has played all over the globe.

Her electrifying sets continually explore new musical ground where trance, techno, acid and bleep all collide. She plays with a sense of unabashed adventure, isn't afraid to drip a curveball and often looks for musical mischief in her sets. All of that is evident in the mix she has put together for us this week, and it comes with an interview in which Danielle Lumma Rahal talks about studying neuroscience in Manchester, the motivation behind starting Weeeirdos and what she thinks dance music can do better. '

Kellersinfonie °31 - ARUTANI

With roots in Leipzig and her current home, Berlin, @lux-io’s profile has been steadily growing over recent years. Following a 2019 that saw her tour through Japan, China and Taiwan, play her first gig in Berghain, and perform at the final Nachtdigital, her past year has been – for obvious reasons – a little more introspective than anticipated.

Her mix for Patterns of Perception fittingly explores the torn and disconnected states recent events have thrown us into, magnifying and intertwining with the still, introverted atmospheres of deep winter.

Tiptoeing on reminiscences of club nights past, this mix sketches subtle lines between different places, spaces, moods, and times, while also bringing together a number of tracks that have been accompanying Lux on her travels for years, never before quite meeting the opportunity to find their place in a mix.
