MOD82 series #008 - Modēm

Techno music always was a substance, made of contrasts - it was born in Motor City, befriended man and machine, combined live emotions and technical precision. These features should be the best to describe music from Russian producer Aleks Unbalance. 

He debuted in 2008 and it took a few years to create his own unique style. In his music you can find distinct symbiosis of strong emotions and industrial themes, which is eclectic and conjoins with technically accurate treatment in music story making.

In a series of records, released on the same name record label, Unbalance could realize his ideas fully - this fresh sound was a bombshell and it was demonstrated with his live performance in Berghain club, world’s techno Mecca, only a year and series of gigs in another legendary club Tresor.

When got support of techno scene old stagers, Unbalance proceed to develop his ideas, expanding a verges of techno and collaborating with a lot of significant artists in Rebalance project. Now his discography includes vinyl releases on such labels like ARTS, PoleGroup, Rawax, Solid Groove and many others, he contributed on legendary Fabric series with a track specially recorded for Steffi, who made the compilation.

In his performances Unbalance endeavors to combine a whole techno ages, gives his due to classic techno, gets inspiration in futuristic sound and mixing it with a modern techno wave, which is what he is. His style of performing is so close to his own works and it creates unique atmosphere on a dance floor, no matter is it private party or big rave in Berlin Berghain.

Er musste mir dann das Auflegen beibringen und mir mein Equipment zum Üben kaufen, denn ich will besser sein als all die anderen! Damals wie heute findet man mich nun in den Clubs dieser Welt, manchmal auf dem Dancefloor und meistens hinterm Pult. V:SONNTAG is a Leipzig based DJ, her signature sound is a potent blend of driving beats, groove and hypnotic minimal rhythms. We consider her a dear friend and are really happy to have her as a guest for out Invites Series. 
For this Livestream we chose the Documentary Koyaanisqatsi as Background; The title is a Hopi Indian word meaning “life out of balance.” Created between 1975 and 1982, the film is an apocalyptic vision of the collision of two different worlds — urban life and technology versus the environment.

Tom Peters is a key figure in the queer club scene, known for DJ sets that blend groovy house, hypnotic techno, and tribal rhythms into a vibrant mix. With a residency at Susanne Bartsch’s ON TOP at Le Bain NYC and notable appearances at Berghain (SNAX), Basement NYC, and events like Gegen and Pornceptual NYE at RSO Berlin, Tom effortlessly bridges underground intensity with joyful dancefloor moments.

Tom recorded this mix at his home in Berlin, crafting a deep, groovy, and hypnotic soundscape. It’s an extension of his signature style, though more laid-back compared to his energetic club sets. Here, patience and careful layering create a smooth journey, allowing each track room to breathe while maintaining a subtle tension. Balancing rhythmic drive and emotional depth, the mix offers a more intimate glimpse into Tom’s musical world—perfect for getting lost in, even off the dancefloor.

I was in the 138BPM - 140BPM range.

It was a lot of fun to play with you! Great little underground club, with a super sound system! 
The great event was organized by HWRD with his series Toolboxxx, very warm welcome and sweet crowd!

Marking his first solo release on Room Trax, Ben Reymann presents ‘Voltage & Memory’, a
four-track EP that balances emotional gravitas with club precision.

The opening track ‘Distress’ sets the tone with a cavernous, rolling energy—dark, texturized, and deeply physical. Built on a driving low-end and minimalistic structure, each element locks in with precision, creating a brooding yet highly functional techno piece. From there, ‘Meeting in the Dark’ shifts into a dreamlike meditation, opening with soft padded atmospheres and robotic,

Japanese vocals that gently guide the listener inward. There's a taste of melancholy nestled within its rhythmic structure, a track that lingers more like a moment than a motif. ‘Warmth & Sentiment’ takes that emotional tension and stretches it across a broader dancefloor context—still dreamy, but now more grounded and diverse in its expression, offering a powerful follow-up that expands the EP’s scope. Finally, ‘Dissolve’ arrives as a perfect closer: majestic pads open the piece, slowly lifted by a faded broken beat, until a ghostly vocal emerges, carrying the whole to its emotional peak. With a Burial-esque sensibility and a DnB-influenced pulse, it ties together the narrative arc with depth and closure.

‘Voltage & Memory’ explores emotion and atmosphere—an EP that moves with intention,
opening up new dimensions within Ben Reymann’s ever-growing catalogue.

Antonio de Angelis, dj, producer in constant evolution, is always looking for new targets and more challenges, experimenting uncommon paths and inventing innovative languages. Eclectic, creative, curious and involving, has a unique style which transmits passion and adrenaline, dreams and emotions. His sets are marked by the art of sound manipulation and style pollution, challenging standards and prejudices, playing wisely with technology and everything that enables him to change and produce music reworks. Antonio dosn t aim to classify his sound within precise boundaries, but its quite easy to perceive strong house roots with contemporary techno and deep inflections. 
Antonio De Angelis was born in the south of Italy in 1980, in 2000 he moved to London and he has become one of the few Italian artists emerging in the electro music in the UK... He started his career with the name of Toni D and he has steadily worked with many international artists and labels.. In summer 1999 Antonio moved to Ibiza where his passion for music got stronger, and in November 2000 he moved definitely to London where with his huge and genuine passion for music he managed to Dj in the best parties in London, at fabric, One more, T bar, Half baked, Minimal hospital, Zum, etc Like this he became Dj resident at Kubicle, one of the best after party in the capital. After some releases with the label Safari, he met Arnaud Le Texier, they became friends and started a collaboration.... Also is start new project duo with Arnaud Le Texier called DETECT AUDIO In 2014 label boss Arnaud Le Texier together with his partners and colleague Antonio De Angelis decided to start a series of events in London for the label of Children of Tomorrow.
