Dresden-based DJ and producer Malena pushes the boundaries of sound, structure, and perception. For her, electronic music means being radical, experimental, and uncompromising. In both her productions and DJ sets, she creates sonic spaces where heavy drums, driving breaks, and dark atmospheres shift perception and unleash new energy.

As part of the HTXSTHSTX label collective, Malena works alongside a diverse range of artists who together explore a wide spectrum of sounds – from downtempo to techno, rave, high energy, breakbeat, and drum & bass. Beyond releasing music, the collective also organizes events that are built on intimacy and integrity, creating spaces where freedom and sound collide. HTXSTHSTX stands as a platform for musical desires, visions, and sonic exploration.

For TONKASSETTE Podcast #28, Malena delivers dystopian soundscapes that feel both haunting and inspiring. Broken rhythms, relentless drums, and atmospheric layers merge into a dark, intense journey. In this special edition of RIOT PRESENTS we present you a mix live recorded by Esther Dune at Tresor Berlin.

 Esther Dune’s sound is characterized by the legacy of techno and (acid) house music.
Growing up in The Netherlands shaped Esther’s music as she absorbed the rich Dutch
scene of the time.
Being praised for her excellent high-end precision mixing skills Esther blends styles
together flawlessly, bringing quality & content to any dancefloor. From raw electro to
minimal, Detroit techno, hard techno & proper acid techno. She creates a natural flow
traveling effortlessly through all the decades of electronic music like time doesn’t exist.
She also enjoys playing deeper styles like (Italo) disco to acid / Chicago house, deep
techno, obscure acid & (downtempo) EBM and feels right at home starting her DJ’s sets
from scratch setting the mood and building to where the dancefloor needs to be.
Dune has music out, also under her ‘Esther Duijn’ alias, on labels like Gegen Records,
Deestricted, Expel Your Demons, Instruments of Discipline, Occultists, Adroit
Recordings & Noise Manifesto. New releases are in the pipeline tba.
This has not gone unnoticed by the scene, being a part of the magnifient Intergalactic
FM crew Esther organises the wordwide renowned Intergalactic FM festival, which was
sold out with people traveling from 50 countries to experience the Fest. She is also part
of the legendary Tresor.Berlin family since 2014 and holding other residencies at Gegen
Berlin, Olam & HöR Berlin.
Esther also made (regular) appearances at Drop Bass Netwerk, Radion,
Basement NY, Pornceptual, De School, Freerotation Festival, Elevator Shanghai &
Panorama Bar to name a few. In 2017 she was asked by Resident Advisor to do a tour in
Australia together with Skatebård.

RIOT PRESENTS 018 | Esther Dune live from Tresor Berlin

Duality, the project of Sean Bautista, explores the tension between contrasts — old and new, analogue and digital. His sound is deep, percussive, and bass-driven, balancing refinement with experimentation. Duality’s sets move fluidly between hypnotic and textured, revealing a love for complexity without ever losing the groove.

This mix was recorded at home using Technics SL-1200s, Pioneer XDJ-1000s, a DJM-450, and a fresh batch of records alongside a few digital finds. Originally submitted to the BCCO X SoundCloud New Faces programme, it became an experiment in letting go of perfection and trusting instinct. 

When invited to re-record it for BCCO Main Mix Series, Duality chose to keep the original — a reflection of honesty, spontaneity, and freedom in sound.

Sounds From NoWhere welcomes aboard the Costa Rican dj & producer Linear System (Modern Minimal // Edit Select). 

Linear System is a techno artist known his hypnotic and immersive signature sound, blending deep, layered textures with powerful basslines, emerging from Spain in 2020, he quickly gained recognition for his distinct approach to techno, crafting intricate, evolving soundscapes that captivate listeners.

His productions reached labels like: Planet Rhythm, Molecular Recordings, Dynamic Reflection, Symbolism, Edit Select...

His music is characterized by a dark yet dynamic energy, reflecting his dedication to pushing the boundaries of the genre.
With performances around the globe, he has brought his vision to renowned clubs and festivals, connecting with audiences through his deep, driving rhythms and atmospheric intensity.
In 2023 he started his own label, Modern Minimal releasing music exclusively for free.

Munich-based duo Glaskin, brothers Jonathan and Ferdinand Bockelmann, have become pivotal voices in modern techno, known for their residency at the legendary Blitz Club and standout releases on labels like Mutual Rytm and Figure. Their live sets channel dynamic, forward-thinking energy, and now they bring that momentum to FJAAK's ever-expanding CROWD family.

With the Blue Light EP, Glaskin deliver four impeccably groovy tracks that balance stripped-down flair and shimmering texture. "Blue Light" opens the EP with mellow synth tones, a lean, hypnotic beat and a vocal loop murmuring 'here we go' that signals the underground journey ahead. Next up is "Captcha", releasing as the single, where a spoken female voice is layered atop rhythmic percussion, marrying atmosphere with groove-driven momentum. On the B-side, "Tape", digs deep into rolling uncompromising techno territory, strict in structure yet irresistibly danceable. The EP rounds out with "Prophat Tool Board", stepping slightly into house-leaning warmth, its broader rhythm and melodic warmth offering a fitting counterpoint to the brooding energy before it.

The Blue Light EP is Glaskin's debut on CROWD and a shrewd expansion of the label's sound palette: richly textured techno made for both peak-time impact and immersive listening. To celebrate the release on the label, Glaskin will join label-founders FJAAK for a CROWD night at Nitsa Club in Barcelona on October 10, an event primed to showcase the raw energy and precision behind their studio work. Born and raised in Buenos Aires and now resonating across Europe’s underground, Gina Demarchi has carved out her own lane between groove, intensity, and drive. A resident at Argentina’s iconic Fungi, she’s been leaving her mark on floors from Tresor and RSO to HÖR, Rote Sonne, and beyond.

Her SPND20 Mixtape is a hypnotic ride at high speeds - maintaining groove and character while hitting with full force. It weaves tribal, hardgroove, and dub techno with flashes of hip-hop-inspired vocals, a nod to DJ Rush and other icons who shaped her expressive sound.

Recorded the purist way: two Technics MK2s, a Xone 92, and nothing but vinyl. From the very first second, Gina flips expectations - opening with something completely unexpected before locking into full-speed motion. It’s fast, magnetic, and unmistakably her.
