UMEK’s label 1605 presents the sixth in its Desiderati 4 series, which is a various artist EP featuring thumping techno tracks by Rebel Boy & Sam WOLFE, Bruce Zalcer, Lazar (IT) and Loco & Jam.

Rebel Boy & Sam WOLFE open the release with a collaborative track made in the same style they have featured on other labels including Oliver Huntemann's Senso Sounds. Individually, Rebel Boy has featured on Frankyeffe’s Riot, and Sam WOLFE’s dropped music on Christian Smith’s Tronic. Their track “Black Veins” fuses heavy percussion with grinding stabs and hints of euphoria.

Track two is by Bruce Zalcer who is returning to 1605 after featuring on the last Desiderati 4 release. He has also featured on Spartaque’s Codex and Metodi Hristov’s Set About. His track “Evocation” is all about the epic breakdown and compelling synth lines layered with the punch of the kick drum.

Lazar (IT) is back on 1605 after featuring on the first of the Desiderati 4 EP's, and since his last appearance he has been busy with released on the likes of Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave to Ramon Tapia's Say What? label. Blending vocal phrases with an ominous bassline, his track “Neuron” is a dark and sadistic slice of techno.

Closing out the release is Irish duo Loco & Jam who have received international critical acclaim for their releases on labels such as Drumcode, Terminal M and Octopus amongst many others. Taking its title from the vocal sample, “Jackmaster” revolves around the modulating tones of the arpeggio lead synth and the tension building pads.

All four of these tracks are tailor made for peak time plays, but caters for a wide variety of styles depending on whether you like it hypnotic, dark, stripped back or euphoric. With something for everyone, this is music for the arsenal of any techno DJ.

After bursting onto the scene in late 2017, Hyperloop makes his Drumcode debut with Green Velvet in toe. 

Followers of Truesoul will be clued up on the quality one can expect from Hyperloop. Last October he marked the label’s 100th with ‘In The Loop’, a superb three-tracker that signalled his arrival on the scene and highlighted a stunning year for the label. As 2018 picks up pace, Hyperloop returns with a tougher follow up for Drumcode. 

His ‘Mentalizm’ EP is a classy example of his versatility, a trio of original works, accompanied by two DJ tools. Beginning on a menacing tip, ‘In Your Mind (Reflections)’ is a low-end brew of industrial stabs, eerie melodies and subterranean vocals. ‘S-Sound’ is his collaboration with Chicago legend Green Velvet and is a percussive masterstroke of loops and drum riffs which drive the eight-minute track with all the puffing ferocity of a steam train. ‘Spring on the Battlefield’ is the perfect contrasting accompaniment, as a warm rush of strings covers a bed of intricate analogue effects and stomping kicks.

UK techno giant Perc is gearing up to release a remix EP for his gargantuan cut 'Look What Your Love Has Done To Me' off his 2017 album 'Bitter Music'. In addition to creating his own VIP mix of the seven-minute dancefloor epic, Perc has tapped I Hate Models and Amelie Lens to reinterpreted what remains the biggest-selling track in the history of the artist's Perc Trax imprint.

Ahead of the three-track release on July 26, Mixmag has acquired the latter of the three remixes for a premiere. The Belgian techno phenomenon keeps the track's core drums intact while adding a deep and seductive melodic touch that gives the umbrous techno slammer a fresh spectral feel.
