Hip-shaking, infectiously groovy ghetto-tech, paired with electro madness is whats on the menu this time, served up by the elusive Cyan85. Hailing from the depths of eastern Germany, Cyan85 has emerged from this industrialised and cold environment with a sound that radiates pure dance energy. Using a variety of vintage-synths and drum machines, he creates a bouncy and energetic machine-funk that stands as a modern take on that classic Detroit style. His production process is one of improvisation at its core, which might help to explain his great versatility in music making, ranging from dreamy downtempo pieces to in-your-face bangers. This mix is a tour-de-force of ghetto-tech and electro, demonstrating that Cyan85 knows how to light the booth on fire.

Hailing from the rough depths of Eastern Germany, Cyan85 brings a diverse sound to the thriving electro scene that drifts effortlessly from soulful and warm sun-drenched anthems, right through to in-the-red, robotic slammers.

It’s easy to draw parallels between the industrialised East and the infamous US area code 313. The discarded remains of a once-thriving center of manufacturing provide many havens for electro lovers in the form of abandoned factories and warehouses. Similar to the Detroit forefathers from whom he draws his influences, it was in these concrete spaces that Cyan85 first cut his teeth a little over half a decade ago.

Since then, he has garnered a name for himself as a capable and versatile DJ, traversing multiple genres as he brings his sets from dreamy, downtempo lushness to hard-hitting machine-driven funk. Eclecticism is a deep part of his musical identity and one that is clearly apparent in his debut EP “Bay of Sampieri”, released on the seminal, Berlin-based label Voitax.

Cyan85’s bouncy, energetic sound comes from a music-making process with live, hardware-based improvisation at its heart. Nestled in his cosy studio next to Kalif Storch Club, he jams out on a variety of vintage synths and drum machines. He then edits, processes and augments using a collection of software plugins to create his own, modernised take on that classic Detroit style.

This man's love for 808s & synthesizers became very evident with, one of our favourite albums of the year, his Voitax release "Lucid Intervals".

We hope to see this man live in action behind the decks in 2021 & are very much looking forward to his upcoming 12" releases on several labels. But for now, he will curate our 3y anniversary edition in felicitous fashion.
