Premiere: Marsh - Healer (Guy J Remix) [Anjunadeep]

No doubt, this EP is probably the most important release of the year on Univack.

The well known colombian artist Kamilo Sanclemente @kamilosanclemente returns to Univack with an ambitious EP with 3 originals mixes and 2 remixes by two of his friends: the brillant netherlander artist Alex O'Rion @alexorion , and the spanish label boss Integral Bread @integralbread

Each of the three originals by Kamilo Sanclemente offers an unique experience. With 'Evergreen', we enjoy the deepest, warmest and most organic side of Kamilo, a track that captivates from the beginning. With 'Perspective', we enjoy a devastating track, with an unbeatable groove, and nuances and arrangements that Kamilo picks up from genres like Soul, Funky and Jazz. On 'Elements' Kamilo experiments with mixing pure Progressive House elements with an operatic vocal track that gives it a unique and futuristic character. 

Alex O'Rion displays all his mastery to achieve a remix of 'Evergreen' being faithful to the original but  offering a different atmosphere at the same time, and combining elements of the original track with new contributions that fit perfectly. 

Integral Bread closes this EP with a very personal version of 'Perstective'. Also faithful to the original in terms of structure and elements, but with new tracks that give it a deeper and more ethereal character. An ideal finishing touch for an epic release.

La preposición procedente del latín CIRCA se utiliza en bibliografía científica, en documentos históricos o en genealogías para ubicar temporalmente un acontecimiento y determinar mediante supuestos, en qué momento de la historia de la humanidad ha podido suceder. Con este título este nuevo trabajo de Jëan Fixx busca desplazarnos a un tiempo indeterminado donde la relación del ser humano y la tecnología es tan estrecha que ya no se alcanza a diferenciar el mundo virtual del real.

En este compilatorio de remixes Jëan Fixx nos presenta “Last Call”, un nuevo tema que funciona como epílogo del EP CIRCA, en el que nos invita a tomar conciencia y acción de forma urgente en relación a nuestro presente y por lo tanto nuestro futuro. Este track combina elementos de techno clásico con arreglos más industriales y atmosféricos, junto a sonidos melódicos que nos retrotraen a la década de los 90, aportando un tono épico y progresivo que ya habíamos escuchado en algunos temas anteriores suyos como “Tannhäuser Tor” (2022) o “Globalizer” (2020).  Junto a esta nueva pista encontraremos las revisiones de los tracks de CIRCA realizadas por Death Whistle, Leuter, Drow, Ekkofault y Ermete Lo Stige, aportando otras aproximaciones estéticas posibles del EP original, llevándonos a diferentes estados emocionales a través de cinco ópticas muy personales:  
Death Whistle nos lleva a un universo profundo y oscuro con influencias del IDM, el bass y el glitch, a través de la revisión magistral que hace del tema de influencia transhumanista “Virtual Body Language”. 

El remix de inspiración downtempo y tech house que nos presenta Leuter del tema “CIRCA”, nos muestra una narrativa progresiva elegante y flotante que nos seduce con pequeños lapsus de síntesis experimental.   Drow nos sorprende con esta contundente y precisa remezcla de techno oscuro y minimalista, en la que la firmeza de los vocales del tema “The Truth” acompañan una frenética línea de bajo que nos arrastran irremediablemente a la pista de baile. 

El productor y DJ italiano Ermete Lo Stige, a través de la intensa y emocional remezcla que ha hecho de “Last Call” nos sumerge en sonidos industriales y atmósferas oscuras que nos remiten al EBM y al techno progresivo, que habitualmente encontramos en sus producciones.

Los 36 minutos de este EP se completan con la remezcla de “Humans” de Ekkofault nos transporta a un transformador amanecer, melódico y luminoso, en el que el encontrar paz y consuelo de la mano de un tema con influencias ambient, chill out y aportes vaporwave.

What makes everybody's darling duo ​Monkey Safari so special is surely their authenticity; with their striking debut album ‘Odyssey’​, this meant producing the same kind of tracks they were playing as they toured nightclubs and festivals around the world, rather than simply a listening album. The result was a dance floor artwork. And while they may be perfectionists, they’re certainly no purists, carefully handpicking remixers they see as most capable of continuing their vision for the album.

Split in 3 separate EPs, ​‘Odyssey Remixed – One’​, ​‘Two’​, and ​‘Three’ will be released in ​May​, ​June​, and ​July 2018​, featuring reworks of the original album tracks by the master himself, ​Carl Cox​, international stars ​Hernan Cattaneo​, Guy J​, ​Musumeci​, Tensnake ​and Reboot​, studio geniuses ​Dubspeeka, Hannes Bieger, ROD, ​and Phil Moffa​, as well as up-and-coming talent ​Avidus​, ​Trivmph​, and​ ​Hommage label co-chief ​Karl Friedrich​.

Guy J: ​“I Loved doing the remix for Monkey Safari. The Original had great elements to work with and after listening to all the album I was inspired to go in the direction I chose for the remix.”

Musumeci: ​"Boulogne Billancourt from Monkey Safari is that kind of track that combines perfect harmony and rhythm in a great blend that works great on the dancefloor. The chords in this music composition are epic but at the same time leave a lot of space for reconstruction using different point of views. When I first listened to the original version of Boulogne Billancourt I immediately felt between the lines of the music texture, a piano hook, and a strong acid bass synth, so I added them. The bass line I played in the intro and in the breakdown of my remix, simply reflects the original vibe but according to my vision of the track. It adds a bit of a suspended feeling right before going back to the action with a more groovy drum and bass lines.“

Dubspeeka: ​“Being asked to lay hands on one track of the last Monkey Safari album was a big pleasure for me, as I have been a fan of their work for a while. Even though it was rather challenging, as the original is a perfectly produced floorkiller. So I tried to bring the track into a more dirty direction with a long breakdown, but without leaving the original`s idea too much. I hope people enjoy the results.”

Trivmph: ​“For our remix of ‚Sign’ we took a very minimalistic approach. The vocal should speak for itself and (in contrast to the original) we were aiming for a less rave oriented version, for special moments at open airs...“

D-Nox returns to DJ Zombi’s Beat Boutique with long time partner in crime, Beckers for a muscular acid workout - Polyacid - with remixes from Navar, Stereo Underground and Definition.   

Over the last 10 years, Germany’s D-Nox and Beckers have enjoyed something of a cult existence. Formed from a mutual love of the music, they were individually successful already; their meeting of minds transcending that almost immediately. Meaty and full of soul, their releases soundtrack a million e-moments with regular support from an army of peers in the Prog House world. Polyacid is no exception. Built around a bubbling acid line it twists and weaves its tale to a point where you’re genuinely upset when it finishes. 

  With such big boots to fill, the remixers had to pull out all the stops. First up, Dutch wunderkind and Lost and Found regular, Navar opts for a stripped back approach hanging the main motifs from a calming percussive network of hats, claps and woodblocks. Stereo Underground builds his mix around a repeating synth hook which quickly mesmerises as he defty mutates and twists its sound throughout. Rounding out the pack, Definition marries afro-house percussion with strings and piano to create a wondrous light and dark opus, bubbling with acidic undertones.
