Love Movement (Dilla Tribute)

I recently started taking bass lessons and my teacher told me to start learning some bass lines of songs I like. This isn't exactly a "cover", but I came up with it jamming along with the original beat and a live version by The Roots. When I decided to recreate it I quite honestly failed - despite how simple the track was.. but I'm digging what I came up with regardless. I basically tried to use the bass as much as possible and tried to come up with variations to the original bass line while still following the general direction of the original beat. I'll try to make this a weekly thing in between my lessons with whatever song I decide to start practicing and learning. Anyways - thanks for taking the time to check it out, I would love to hear what you think. (PS - Any bass players out there definitely reach out, would love to connect)

Scandinavian producers Misha and Monma unearth rare Finnish private press boogie track from 1983, hook-up with original artist Jussi Halme and create an updated version. This is the story of ''Funny Funk '18'' in one sentence.

Less than a year ago I commented a song by Jussi Halme on YouTube. To my surprise the artist himself answered and we exchanged email addresses. This was not only a beginning of an unexpected collaboration between different generations, but a great friendship, as well.
The song I commented was ''Early Evening in Brazil'', which me and Monma later produced into ''Brazil'', that was released through Chillhop in November 2018. Not like numbers would matter, but I'm very happy to see that it has streamed about 1,5M times so far on Spotify.
The first song I ever heard (played by my DJ friend) from Jussi Halme was ''Funny Funk'', which was a self-released 7'' single back in 1983. Such an amazing funky track with dope synths instantly caught my attention. This type of music was and still is really marginal in the Finnish music scene. Very small, almost nonexistent audience. To produce this in Finland being passionate is not enough - you have to be obsessed, haha.
And obsessed we are. Me, Monma & Finnish Talkbox master 6mäki had an honor to team up with an original composer to create a new version out of this rare Finnish boogie track. No better way to sample! It will be officially released next week by Melting Pot Music. There will also be a music video. So excited. Stay tuned.
