Good Health, Good Life by Joyce Meyer, Read by Jodi Carlisle - Audiobook Excerpt

Today’s sound file is based on Isaiah 35: 1-10, which is the First Reading for Monday in the Second Week of Advent in the Roman Catholic “Lectionary for Mass.”  The hymn is “The Desert Shall Rejoice,” whose text was written by Gracia Grindal (1983) and whose tune was composed by Joy F. Patterson (1988). It appears in this form in the “United Methodist Hymnal” of 1989.  The choral settings of stanzas 2 and 4 and the descant are by Bart Bradfield, who wrote them for the Schola Cantorum of St. Peter’s in the Loop for the cd recording, “Music for Advent II.”  That cd was published by The Liturgical Press, Collegeville, MN.   The organist is Br. Nathanael Deward Rahm, BSG; the flautist is Dr. Anita Miller Rieder.
