Bioni Samp - Radioshow Plays/Support

Cabaret Voltaire continue a series of releases on Mute with #8385 (Collected Works 1984-1985), out on 4 November 2013, more details at shop.cabaret-voltaire.net . #8385 is a six CD / four vinyl and two DVD box set.

#8385 (Collected Works 1983 - 1985) collates four of Cabaret Voltaire’s classic mid-period releases – remastered - on CD and vinyl - The Crackdown (1983), Micro-Phonies (1984), Drinking Gasoline (1985) and The Covenant, The Sword and the Arm of the Lord (1985) alongside a CD of Cabaret Voltaire’s 12” A's & B's from the period and a CD of 12 unreleased tracks entitled Earthshaker (The Lost Soundtrack).

DVD1, Cabaret Voltaire Live, collates two live shows, the Bedford Boys Club (18.08.84) and Hammersmith Palais (02.12.84) and DVD2 is the long awaited DVD release of Gasoline In Your Eye (1985), plus the four promotional videos from the time.

#8385 (Collected Works 1983 - 1985) also includes 40-page 12" booklet, notes about Earthshaker, an essay by Phil Barnes and new sleeve notes by Richard H. Kirk.

Cabaret Voltaire - Just Fascination

Perc Trax’s 2nd and final sub-label launches with a release as special as it is unique. Pairing boss man Perc with industrial legends Einstürzende Neubauten to provide a link between the current cutting edge wave of techno/industrial fusionists and one of the true cornerstones of first generation of industrial trail-blazers.

Einstürzende Neubauten innovated both musically with their philosophy that any sound can be incorporated into a composition and also their DIY mentality, an attitude shared by similarly groundbreaking UK artists such as Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire. Now Perc takes the dub-mixes from Neubauten’s 1981 album ‘Kollaps’, a release mentioned many time by Wells as one of the key influences on his trademark sound, reworking the source material to add a contemporary touch which is respectful whilst showcasing this classic material in a new light. Serving up everything from echo-soaked dub workouts to sonically and physically imposing percussive assaults this is Perc at his most innovative, open-minded and confrontational.

The collaboration between Einstürzende Neubauten and Perc will start and end with this EP. There will be no follow up releases making this release even more intriguing. The EP was mastered by UK mastering engineer of the year Matt Colton at Alchemy in London and the striking artwork is by long time Perc Trax collaborator Jonny Costello.

For this third Mixtape dedicated to our website ‘Daft Punk Anthology‘, the DJ/producer ‘CrydaLuv’‘ which became known with his excellent rework of ‘End of line‘ (Tron Legacy), with his hilarious ‘Get Knacki‘ (Get Lucky edit) completely inevitable, and of course with his quality collaborations and remixes, has agreed to give us a big new mix. Indeed, the thought was by DaftSide (founder of DPA), the concept was to mix the best of all tracks from ‘side-project’ labels of the robots, Roulé‘ by Thomas Bangalter and Crydamoure by Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo and Eric Chédeville, such as a big VERSUS for this digital encyclopedia. Bioni Samp is the creator of this 6 tracks EP, a journey between experimentation and atmospheric ambience.

Press Release: By the Oxbow lakes following the old course, making binaural field recordings. Eventually I reached the river Aire by calculating the sizes of several ancient audio pyramids, with trigonometric functions. Nearby Tom Pudding boats are jostling with the night coal, surrounded by phosphorescence noise wash. The sides of the pyramids are along the four cardinal points of synthesisers, measured with the stars and the rising and setting sun.

Bioni Samp makes his solo debut proper with a finely structured, dark and elemental Ambient Techno EP. Hailing from Leeds, he's already appeared on the London-based Aconito label alongside Nax_Acid with the 'Ghost Bus' EP, but this is his definitive solo statement. Stark ambient pieces bookend four minimal Techno rollers. 'Feather Ings' uses field recordings and plunging subaquatic basses reminiscent of Thomas Köner, and the title track sketches bleak atmospheres around a skeletal hi-hat pattern reminding of DJ Skirt at her most isolated. The Techno tracks are equally carefully constructed, from the rippling, offset roll of 'Todays Skyline' to the SAW-like pulses of 'Oil On Canvas' and the ghostly warehouse space of 'Slinky Makes Reverb'. Biog – Short Version
Bioni Samp is an artist, producer and video maker originally from Leeds, Yorkshire. He currently resides in London. He creates experimental electronic music, live and on recordings. He also seasonally works with bees. When not beekeeping, he makes custom audio software and hardware, which he uses in creating his music.

Bioni Samp has been publishing his work since 1995 and has had releases on various labels: Aconito, EMIT (UK) Harthouse (DE) Philtre/Kompakt, Instinct, Minimalizm (USA) RoHS Prod (FR) and Noise Music (BR).

Growing up in Yorkshire to a backdrop of industrial decay next to rural beauty, inspired me to create my own electronic landscapes using cassette, tape loops, bass guitar and a Roland SH-101 synthesiser.

I was influenced and inspired by other Yorkshire locals, Cabaret Voltaire, early Human League, their harsh electronic sound and slide based multimedia live shows.

After studying video and sound in Scotland, it was in Glasgow that I really started to developed my own work and built an early ProTools based electronic studio. Many djing, live electronics gigs and then releases followed.

Over the years I have continued to research and experiment with stereo / binaural, producing recordings and performing live with extreme stereo processing, using mainly my own home made equipment. Recently I have been invited to perform my live electronics in Canada, Sweden, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Austria, Liverpool, and London.

I have recently performed with my 'Hive Synthesiser' at reRooted Festival at Humber Street Gallery, part of Hull UK City Of Culture 2017. Where I also played a DJ set on the last night of the festival.

I like to create something new for each live performance, my sound constantly evolving between ‘ambient / experimental / field recordings / noise / techno‘.
