For the 15th chapter of VSA Radio, upcoming local producer and DJ Tino invites you for a daring journey with a one hour mix of mesmerising face melter techno. Tino is heavily inspired by the Birmingham sound, and this inspiration is ever-present in his ruthlessly grinding productions and mixes.

"Ever since I was a kid, I've had a love for intense music genres. I got into the Copenhagen rave scene four years ago, and was enchanted from the very first time I stepped into a party at Et Andet Sted. Soon after, I started to produce techno music and DJ myself, and I have been working on developing my sound ever since. Since I am very self critical about my art, I've struggled a lot with being satisfied with my work. 

However, lately I finally feel like everything I've learned on my musical journey is starting to come together, and I am actually feeling proud and confident to present my productions. Some of them are included in the mix. I hope you will enjoy it!"

Red Nailmaker is a Berlin-based anonymous post-industrial music project. The namesake is actually derived from St.Petersburg's steel-rolling factory, a monument of constructivism built in the 1930s. The music of the project is close to constructivists' vision of art - it's abstract, mechanistic and raw in its form. The synonymousness with this art form is uncanny: the methodical and structured manufacturing of techno is masked in the true beauty and emotion of the genre. Stylistically it’s a boiling brew of techno, industrial, rhythmic noise and dub, described by Resident Advisor as “churning and noisy industrial techno with a real sense of menace”.

DΛS is an Athens based DJ and producer who approaches music instinctively and his sounds digs in the industrial side of techno, even though he has been exploring a wide range of electronic music over the years.

In 2016, DΛS  became one of the resident DJs of Pi Electronics, an electronic music collective that is mainly active in Athens and Berlin. So far, he has contributed to two V/A compilations. The first was for the Pi Electronics label in 2018 and the second was for the Modified Boredom label in 2022.

In 2019, his first solo released from The Slave Records,an Italian based label. 
Following, his first vinyl release SPLIT#2 from Pi Electronics is currently expected.

The Trauma EP is at once an obviously loyal tribute to the imprint platforming him, while being a visceral soundtrack to the gradual setting in of early morning lights.

Wasting no time in exercising his sonic assault, opening cut “Hypnotism” will affect you much like its name suggests on this punishing, splintered- beat body basher, before pummelling you into submission on the strobed-out warehouse techno epic “Plastic Rain”. He then ventures into the more abrasive shades of texture and gradient on the experimentally minded “Ava” until getting off- the-grid once more with a descent even deeper into the void, on the knackered closer “Dead Waves”."

BIO:
St Petersburg resident Ivan Karasev aka Torn is the first Russian artist to be signed to Samurai Music. Primarily working in the 170bpm tempo, Torn has grown into one of the most promising talents in underground drum and bass.

Debuting on Samurai sister label Shiro in 2017, Torn now releases his first EP (Internal) for the Samurai Music label in 2018. The Internal EP sees his sculpted malaise reaching a creative peak, completing construction on a distinctive desolation he now inhabits like a second skin. 

Ivan’s talent is not limited to the 170bpm tempo. He also produces future facing polyrhythmic Techno which has been heavily supported in the sets of Sam KDC and Presha. 

2019 will see Torn release on Horo, where his Techno productions will be presented in a release format for the first time.

@docsleep cut her chops as a DJ in San Francisco’s vibrant scene the past decade, before making the move to Berlin and becoming a resident of Room 4 Resistance. Since 2013, she's co-owned Jacktone Records, specializing in techno, ambient, and experimental electronics. In 2018, Fact Mag named Jacktone one of the 10 best labels of the year. Doc broadcast on cult favorite, Intergalactic FM, for several years and in 2016/2017 released her first EP's, including with Hot Mass Detour Records. She's contributed solo and collaborative tracks and remixes to Dark Entries, 100% Silk, Run the Length, Discwoman/Allergy Season, Twirl and Tribal, to name a few. She's DJ'd throughout North America and Europe, including Panorama Bar, Saule and Tresor, De School, Under Bron, La Machine du Moulin Rouge, Et Andet Sted, Kaiku and Aaniwalli. Her next EP's will be released on Jacktone February 2019 and Dark Entries in April 2019.
