Rafael Anton Irisarri is a multi-instrumentalist, record producer, mastering engineer and curator living in New York. His story with Ghostly International begins in 2008 with the release of his debut as The Sight Below. He's since worked with the likes of Ryuichi Sakamoto, Terry Riley, and Grouper, and has lent a hand to countless projects orbiting the Ghostly label including albums by Steve Hauschildt, Telefon Tel Aviv, and Lusine. Originally from the Pacific Northwest, Irisarri grew up playing in punk and reggae bands before the world of electronic music opened up to him in the 1990s. His GhostlyCast mix, In Blue Rooms, is a tribute to this formative time. He explains, "I'm a product of ambient chill rooms — that's where I'd find myself most comfortable whenever I went to the clubs or attended raves. The mix contains ambient music I first heard in those rooms. You can hear all kinds of styles in this mix – I felt compelled to keep it this way and teleport, through the music, to this very fertile era of music discovery when genres intermingled and had infinite possibility."

Apart from numerous releases on labels such as Rough House Rosie, Perpetual Rhythms, Tabernacle Records, Lonely Planets Rec and others, Gigi Jikia is the resident of club Bassiani and long time curator of one of its musical directions.  His latest album Ostati on Organic Analogue Records is a must listen for any follower of the Georgian underground electronic music. SF.MIX.07 - Loraine James

Loraine James (@lorainejames) is a producer from North London. In a 2017 interview she described herself as a someone "who makes sometimes glitch; sometimes ambient - and sometimes in-between Electronic music". This is fitting. Her latest work, an EP for New York Haunted, is a raucous, choppy, noisy affair. Beats heavy, it's definitely club appropriate, if not friendly, it combines frosty synth sounds and freaky vocals with well worn drum breaks made new. It's intense, but rewarding. Much like the mix she's done for us, in fact. It runs through intensely heavy percussive tracks from artists that are largely unknown to me, dropping in one of Burial's saddest moments, somehow blending Joy O's 'Hyph Mngo' (word to hurfyd) with JPEGMAFIA before throwing Britney into a murky, swamp. It all comes to an end with a slowed-down emotional belter from The Range. Epic stuff.

The Warp Records Bleep × takeover marked the last event at our pop-up shop in Dalston. Mira Calix, Plaid and Special Request all delivered sets that were energetic, playful and ultimately; incredibly fun. Here is the first recording of the bunch. Keeping with the bitter-sweet feeling that this were to be the last event held at the shop, Mira Calix produces an initially contemplative set that quickly morphs into a party-mix.

To complete the trip, its North Londons @LoraineJames, the Oram Award winning producer and DJ. Loraine is breaking through the UK avant-garde scene, with a recent release on New York Haunted & future shows with Machine woman and Klein. She delivers a beautifully off-kilter mix to finish.

Schooled by the soundtrack of skating, hip-hop and US Hardcore Punk, guided by Chicago House, Detroit and early UK Hardcore and enthralled by early Jungle, Drum and Bass and Dutch 90's Techno: the Greek DJ, Honest Jon’s associate and label runner @kemal187 has always been influenced by a unique spectrum with an attitude.

Since 2013, his label, Berceuse Heroique and its sub-divisions Ancient Monarchy, Herskull, The Brasserie Heroique Edits and ΚΕΜΑΛ have been featuring artists such as British tribal sorcerer: Black Merlin, Russian jack-of-all-trades: Pavel Milyakov, Bristol boy: Hodge and Ossia, the Dutch genre-bending DJ to name but a few. They all stand out in terms of adventurous sounds and non-compromising originality.

For EDWIN this month, Kemal has prepared a mix consisting of unreleased tracks that will soon be hitting your local record stores.

His ride starts sapced-out, slow and eldritch, followed by dark soundscapes and bass thunder, diving into industrialised slow-motion worlds that melt into Kemal’s very own dream of edgy pop music, crystalising in deep dub avalanches and Balearic break waves.

Following an expansive discography of LPs on Warp from 2001 to 2017, the latest release from acclaimed British producer Clark sees him self-releasing an album for the first time on his own label Throttle Records. Titled Kiri Variations the fourteen-track album is an extension on his score work he produced for BAFTA-nominated TV drama Kiri back in 2018. Having delved into world of scoring for film and TV back in 2016 with the soundtrack for crime-thriller The Last Panthers, he's taken to the versatility of this type of work with ease. Clark's music, even if sparingly, has always had quite emotive themes and on Kiri, his use of piano, harpsichord, clarinet, strings, electronics and his own voice paints a wonderfully melancholic narrative. We caught up with Clark to discuss the work put into Kiri Variations, his performance at the Royal Albert Hall, the transitional two second 'holy points' in his productions and how producing music for horror films is one of the most satisfying things you could ever do as a producer. His Truancy Volume, a sonic extension of his recent scores, is a riveting tapestry of organic instrumentation. Incredibly coherent yet polarising at points, his embrace of recent acoustic sources can be heard throughout. Shuttling through haunting modern classical and folktronica to the trance-induced productions of Lorenzo Senni, it's an overlap of two circles both firing up emotion. As Clark puts himself  - "We live in a post-genre era, it's good to take advantage of that."

Her surpsising selection leads you through all kinds of booty-shaking genres straight into the upper regions occupied by the fastest tempos and hardest-hitting sounds. In her own words, the podcast reflects the gamut of her favourite genres quite closely: a melting pot containing jersey club, baile funk, juke, reggaeton, hardcore and generally whatever works.
