Well look, I've never done one before and after finally watching the 'Sign O' The Times' concert film, I wanted a version of the live version of this track to play in my sets and I couldn't find any online and so at least this is an original idea. I've given it some very simple embellishments which I hope are not cause for sacrilege. Hopefully useful wherever you're playing this summer.

The lovely Jacana lads gave me their blessing to give away my lightly tribalised rework of their gorgeous single 'Twist Forever', featuring spoken word man-of-the-moment, Antony Szmierek. I jiggled their parts around, injected a little dembow snare vibe and some Reesey bass from a Moog Little Sub Phatty I was briefly in position of and took their delicate original onto the dancefloor.

The track features New York house music, drag and ballroom icon, Kevin Aviance, whose ballroom classic 'Cunty' was sampled by Beyoncé on 'PURE/HONEY' on 'RENAISSANCE', and who Madonna brought out on stage as part of her recent tour.

I sampled his plea on the Resident Advisor Exchange podcast for people to get off their phones in clubs, and from the early reactions it feels like it's really striking a chord for our times. A message we can all get behind!

Hope you enjoy this sassy acid banger. Overjoyed to be releasing on Faith as Terry Farley and his affiliates were big inspirations for me on the come up, and to collaborate with a beloved icon of queer and house music history.

Last night I launched my new concept, Pitchblack Mixtapes. It’s an offshoot of my Pitchblack Playback album listening sessions in the dark, except me and other DJs play and mix a selection of music instead of an album being played. It went really well and I had great feedback from it, so looking forward to doing more.

As promised, here’s the full recording. It should ideally be listened to in the dark with no distractions. Each record was carefully picked to sound spectacular in the confines of Number 10 in Hackney where we host most of our events, and hopefully it makes for a great listen outside of there too.

My rework of his own rework of his classic 'Alien (Hold On To Your Dreams)', his own beautiful homage to the immigrant story of America. His re-recorded version was part of the posthumous 'Nothing New' compilation that XL Recordings released in 2014, featuring recordings from 2008 of some of his favourite works. I think that version of 'Alien' is so much more powerful than the original, the pain of the lyrics amplified by his then-gruffed-up voice. And it's a message we can all get behind right now particularly I think.
