Disquiet Junto Project 0168: Three of a Kind

using an abandoned track for this task, cut up and rearranged in Live using 3 audio tracks

pretty simple really, other than that just a bit of effects here and there and some EQing

Disquiet Junto Project 0168: Three of a Kind
Create an original, multi-part piece with a single audio source.

Step 1: You will be making a single track with three different parallel lines. It might be easiest to think of them as melody, rhythm, and an ambient foundational bed, but you might also do three counterposed rhythms, or a drone of three varying ambient beds. It’s up to you.

Step 2: Select a single source of audio. Perhaps it’s a segment of pre-existing track, or a single note on a favorite instrument, or a short recording of you humming or breathing.

Step 3: Transform that single source of audio to produce each of the three separate lines you plotted in Step 1.

Step 4: Record the track with those three lines running simultaneously.

Step 5: Upload your track to the Disquiet Junto group on SoundCloud.

Step 6: Then listen to and comment on tracks uploaded by your fellow Disquiet Junto participants.

Deadline: This assignment was made in the evening, California time, on Thursday, March 19, 2015, with a deadline of 11:59pm wherever you are on Monday, March 23, 2015.

Length: The length of your finished work should be roughly between one and four minutes.

This track came about by accident rather than design. Earlier in the day I'd gone out to take field recordings of the birdsong during an eclipse and thought I would use this as a single source for the track.
 I used three elements from the long clip, footsteps, birdsong and dog barks with the intention of using the bird song as ambience, footsteps as rhythm and dog barks as melody. I used yellofier for rhythms, sparkle for tone and space designer for ambience but ended up feeding the clips through each process in turn and then rearranging the resultant mulch in Logic.

All audio originates from a three second recording of me flicking through a textbook, the subsequent sound was then stretched using pauls extreme sound stretch to form the basis of both the bed and the low end. I used resonators and various space design plugins to acheive the final result.

**Production Notes**

The source is a pad I generated some days ago with Ambient V-03. 

I set up the pad on three different tracks, moved the starting point of each waveform, pitched -12, 0 and +12. Then I added some 1-pole-EQs, which cutoff frequencies were modulated by three slow LFOs. 

Added a slight compression - that’s it. First thought of calling it "Pink Fluffy Hyperpad", honestly ;-)

Three From One Swambi

I am a human animal & through my creative practices seek to connect to the flow of life to let my innate intuition guide me before my logical mind controls me. To undo or at least side-step some of my cultural conditioning so the spirits of the place I am in can express through me. This  forest I am in, the rock I sit on beside this stream, the footpath below my feet, this vast planet we all live upon. The natural world so often unconsidered, ignored, I aim to give it some voice.
