Bennelux, a duo consisting of Lux Familiar and Benncart has come a long way since kicking off their series of footwork EP's over a year and half ago. While honing their production skills with every release they have managed to receive much acclaim and support by the likes of Addison Groove, Om Unit or Traxman. Shortwhile after dropping the third installment, the Polish Juke members are back with the final part. Arguably their finest offering to date, "4/4" focuses on a more melodic spectrum of the fast-pasted, bass-oriented music native to the city of Chicago. The EP opens with "Knockin' Doors Down (Deep Burnt)", which utilizes a Freddie Hubbard sample used famously in a beloved deep house classic "Deep Burnt" by Pepe Bradock. Complex arrangment, ever-changing rhythmic patterns and a cavalcade of sounds lifted from numerous sources make up one of Bennelux's most impressive tracks. "Whatcha Need?" follows with a similar, laid-back vibe, combining beefed-up drums with a chilled out sample and vocal chops, making it a track suitable for both club and home environments. "Together" is a hard-hitting footwork take on 1995 Omni Trio track of the same name, ready to set off any dance floor on fire. The climatic finale comes with "(We Will Be Here) Forever" , a deep mixture of dreamy chords, loads of low end and KRS-One vocal samples, which make a bold statement about the duo's plans for the future. Now, after their four-part series has come to an end, Benncart and Lux will focus on finishing their album, for which every fan of footwork music should be on the lookout for.
