Sleep Mix Volume 4 (Mixed by Semibreve Rest)

@VonParty and @DreemsDreems are the dynamic duo behind international label @MultiCulti. It was back in 2013 that Montreal’s Von Party (who is also A&R for his brother Tiga’s Turbo Records and recently revealed that his name should be pronounced FUN PARTY - ideally in a German accent) teamed up with the Sydney producer and self-proclaimed Cosmic Sherpa known as Dreems. Proud of their roster of artists making “pan-globo-sexual soulstyle for our times”, the twosome are purveyors of music to dance to, music to trip to, and music to mediate to. 

Serial makers of sleep time soundtracks, we called on the label heads to put together a mix that’ll guide listeners to a peaceful slumber. Featuring music from Brian Eno, Aphex Twin, and the lesser known Dolphins Into The Future, it’s smooth, soothing and we’re planning to fall asleep to it tonight. Great dreams guaranteed.

The meister of all things moody & Malka Tuti related ‘Katzele’ shuts his mouth and opens the doors to his vast collection of incredible lucid-trance, sandman sloth and self help records to create a merry go round of emotional highs, lows and in-between-off-the-side-up-the-wall-and-off-the-roof moments. 

I was ling in for this session, recorded live at the @multiculti headquarters in Berlin, and can attest to its vital powers in producing hallucinogenic observations and out-of-body experiences. 

So - kick off those shoes, fluff that pillow, and leave your brain at the door. This is Sleep Mix Volume 12.

For the last 6 months, while on the road (in one way or another) I compiled and stitched together this ambient mixtape. Partly in an attempt to battle the noise and chaos of travel, and equally for a love for calmness. It has morphed from something I made for myself to induce a kind of relaxed focus, into a mix I feel is worthy of sharing with you. Whether it’s something that sets a mood for a book or a daydream out a rainy window, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, and it can colour your life as it has mine.

This is a recording of a very special set I played during the silent retreat I put on with my friend Randi. It was called Reflections and the concept is to explore the space of a silent retreat while exploring movement in the form of yoga and dance while being supported by music. It was an extremely potent experience for all of us and this set in particular reached new levels of depth. Sam and I collaborated live with loops coming from some of my slowest tracks. You will probably be familiar with some of them and others will be new but the journey itself is quite unique in that it was totally improvised and Sam's presence lifted the experience into a heavenly bliss. I hope you enjoy this as much as we enjoyed it live.
