Hello! Here is a one-taker of me singing after a very exhausting day= strained singing. However, I like the rawness of it, and the breaks in my voice remind us we are all human and sometimes unsure and lacking in follow through. I am rambling now. Enjoy this cover of a song that stole my heart when I heard Rae Morris's gentle, yet soulful voice singing it along with Clean Bandit.
I have been in a season of radical change. I was not the same person earlier this year. Circumstances have forced me to scrap parts of myself, who I thought I was and start building myself from scratch. This song means something to me, despite its sometimes cryptic lyrics. My belief is that there is always hope, not through another, not through one's self... but someone who is above all else: Jesus. A soulful indie rock ballad with a raw vocal that gradually builds to a crescendo of passionate angst.
Story:
This track starts out addressing someone as if a letter, but then breaks into a moment of introspection at the chorus. The internal conflict created erupts into a fury of emotion near the end. It addresses the themes of forgiveness and establishing boundaries, themes not often discussed in music.

Hearts entangled are not easily or cleanly disentangled. I wrote this based on an experience I had while living in Japan the summer of 2017. An experience I had there had taken more of a toll on me than I had realized, and I dealt with its effects well into the following year. Hearts entangled are not easily or cleanly disentangled.

Part 1 of the Bedroom Sessions

A Psalm for Sunday - I wrote this when I was feeling very anxious and I was being sucked up into a vortex of worry. I came back and finished it today (9/8/2019), completed the music, fine-tuned the melody, changed some lyrics, and played parts for piano, guitar, and all vocals.
In all, this was a realization of my being too reliant on the strength of another human, staking everything on them, but the song ends with my realization that truly I cannot know steadfastness, security, love, and healing a part from God.

This is my sloppily thrown together in a about 2 hours rendition of my song "All to Myself" that I wrote earlier this year.

If you are not sure if this song sounds loving and hopeful, or possessive and obsessed, then that's the point! Sometimes, someone's pain or regret can make you jealous, because it robs part of their heart from you.

I decided to add choral style vocals, since I can usually lay those down on the spot, and it adds something very unique and that I feel "this is the sound of my heart" when I hear it.

I wrote this on Palm Sunday 2020.
I was focusing on the songwriting and my vocals are a bit lackluster and I was super tired today, but I was excited to have a Macbook Pro to create this on Garageband.
I used the AI generated drums that you can adjust the uses of which drums and the groove, but it essentially follow the BPM you give it. I was surprised how easy it was to use and how much potential it has.
I was experimenting a lot in this piece and was writing as I went some of the time.
I also was having a rough day and needed to remind myself where my true hope comes from.

This song is going through the contrasting attitudes of humanity towards Christ seen first in his reception on what we refer to as "Palm Sunday" where he was praised, and the path of suffering to the cross which we we refer to as "Good Friday", but the hope coming from Resurrection Day (Easter). I pull in it's relevance to us now in the verses.

I threw this together in about...3-4 hours! This is a song I wrote at the beginning of 2018 for my dad as he - and the family, was going through a hard time.
I think it can encourage and inspire everyone during these uncertain days. These experiences and change can only make you grow! It's time to shed the old skin.

Had fun nearly crashing my computer by experimenting with a bunch of synths and patches. I tried a little harder to make to make my voice sound better. I made a makeshift voice booth with pillows. I fiddled a bit more with the settings on both the analog mixer and digital. I turned down the compression and there is less of a buzz. I definitely notice a difference. I think the voice sounds better in the beginning and near the end. I think I should have chosen a different drum perhaps...
Anywho! 'Twas so fun, I lost track of time and missed a Zoom meeting.

I write music that usually centers around conflict - inner or relational. Being a bit of a passive person, music helps me to come to terms with the way I am actually feeling, and sometimes writing gives me to courage to face conflict head on rather than shy away.
AUTHENTICITY is my goal.
