MAKE FRIENDS WITH GORILLA

The song Make Friends With Gorilla is the result of a team effort and was composed in collaboration with the amazing band Stargoon. 

The initial idea was to produce the electro background for one of Stargoon's songs. It was then that the composer Shayne O'Neill introduced me to the demo of "Make Friends With Gorilla". The song was great and I spent a lot of time creating different electro versions, experimenting with beats and bass lines, but none of them sounded really interesting. I came to the inevitable conclusion that any change too abruptly would take away from the beauty of the original track, and perhaps the best solution was a remix. This way the original track could be released intact and still get a remix.

"Just do whatever you think works best," was Shayne's response. Man, you don't say that to someone who is desperate (lol). After that I completely abandoned the electronic versions and went for a mix of punk rock (!), anime music (!!) and orchestra (!!!)

This remix was by far one of the biggest challenges I've had to date, because it forced me to experiment with a crossover of styles outside the electro bubble.

I hope you enjoy the result.

Stargoon is the fantastic musical project created by the duo Shayne O'Neill and Ceridwyn "Sunny" Roberts-Floyd. The band has post-prog pop influences and was once defined as Hawkwind meets Devo. In my opinion, Stargoon's sound is completely original, a rare gem. I am an outspoken fan of the duo's work.

Started the year off right in the virtual studio with my bandmates and #blabbuds from @bandlab.  Had a blast as per usual.  The idea, guitars and poetry come from @soundmindproject, the bass added by @dr_snave and our 2nd track with new drummer Dave @drummer1979. I added the melody and lead guitars. This remastered album "Flight of Light" chronicles the dramatic shift in Inge's world as the idyllic life she knew in Book 1 becomes overshadowed by the growing influence of the Nazi regime. Inge and her siblings are drawn into the activities of the Hitler Youth and League of German Girls, experiencing a strange mix of camaraderie, newfound responsibilities, and subtle indoctrination.

The innocence of childhood games and explorations gives way to a more structured and ideological environment. Inge faces internal conflict as she grapples with the disharmony between the values instilled by her family and the increasingly rigid expectations of the regime.

The book portrays the subtle ways in which ordinary people are drawn into the machinery of a totalitarian system. The music for Book 2 mirrors this internal and external conflict, expressing the emotional turmoil of a nation on the brink of war and a family struggling to maintain its values in the face of overwhelming change.

"Flight of Light" is a powerful exploration of the loss of innocence and the struggle to find a sense of belonging in a world on the brink of chaos. The music echoes this struggle, offering a poignant soundtrack to a pivotal chapter in Inge's life. It sets the stage for the dramatic events that will unfold in the subsequent books, as the Feyerabends face the full impact of the war and the difficult choices that lie ahead.
