This song may appear simple, if not simplistic. This is right, it’s not a complicated, rather a common, story about opening the door to someone and having to let this someone leaves you one day through the very same door.
However, in life like in love, don’t let the ordinary fool you. The little things in life are the biggest ones and when you have to look back to realize it, you’re actually lost to those magical instants.
Zut doesn’t stand for « Zebra University of Technology », but for « damn! » or « oh, heck! » in French. Yes, in French! Writing in the language of Molière was an arduous choice. It took me a year or so to go from the original « kinda » French lyrics to the final ones, which were done in a bar, on a paper napkin, along a few drinks!

The melody and chords were the most intuitive to find, playing around for a few evenings. However, honestly, my accent didn’t suit the rhythms and atmosphere. Finding singers willing to contribute proved not to be an easier task! Finally, Oliver Neff aka Titanic Jack agreed to record the main vocals. Together with Maja Štebih with her nice back vocals, they made such a great work on this Indie folkish-poppish-rock track. 
Thanks to both of them for their time, trust and capacity to see, and bring, beauty into the world!

I am beside myself with joy to honour the memory of my high school bestie Dan Wayne Dunlop (October 4, 1957 – November 17, 2012), by re-recording, producing and publishing his original song "Young Love".  This is a short clip of the song.  Dan and I first met in junior high school and became the best of friends in high school.  We were bad, had tons of fun and jammed together often for many years.  Known by many names, Dan, Big Mouth or the Baron of Barrie, he loved the Barrie, Ontario community and its people. He felt at home in Barrie and even recorded a song, an ode to his adopted City of Barrie.  Dan, as an entertainer extraordinaire, was best known for hosting the comedy skit-based TV show "Big Mouth" winning a Rogers Television Award in 2005 as best on-air personality.  Dan, AKA "FastManDan," wrote "Young Love" in the late 1970s. He recorded it on a cassette player using a drum machine, his guitar, and, of course, his vocals. My AI attempt to revive the recording from my cassette copy didn't work out, so I decided to re-record the song. The great thing is I couldn't be more pleased with the results, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!  In many ways, Dan was my mentor.  I admired and took inspiration from his independent nature, courage, talent and outstanding determination.  A born comedian and later a cartoonist, singer, songwriter, guitarist, Impressionist, puppeteer, exotic pet handler, film producer, radio talk show host, cameraman and film editor,  Dan was one dynamite entertainer and a hilarious prankster!  Just as important was his good nature and big heart.  Dan truly cared about the well-being of others and was not afraid to show you that side of himself.  Dan influenced and affected many people's lives, and all are grateful to have known this man. I miss him very much and crack a smile whenever I think of the good times we had together.  As much as a man can love a man, I loved Dan – rest in peace, my great friend and brother!  Wow, is it not the coolest thing knowing that your spirit has a voice through this great tune of yours?

🎤 Why I wrote this song

"Life’s a Mess (But We Love It)" was born in the middle of chaos.Not the cinematic kind. The real, raw, slightly stupid kind.

Sleepless nights. Half-finished thoughts. Conversations that ended weird. Too many tabs open – in my brain and my browser. I was trying to get everything right and failing gloriously.

But then something clicked:Maybe the goal isn’t to clean up the mess.Maybe it’s to dance through it.
