Book 3 plunges the listener into the chaos and fear of the final days of the war in East Prussia. The once-familiar streets of Danzig (now Gdańsk) become a haunting labyrinth of desperation and uncertainty as Inge and her family navigate the treacherous path to the harbor. As the ship embarks across the vast and unforgiving Baltic Sea, the music evokes the vastness of the ocean, the precariousness of their situation, and the uncertain future that awaits them. You can hear in the sounds the inner turmoil of the characters: the children who do not yet fully comprehend what is happening and the adults who try to hold on to hope in the face of unimaginable fear.

From haunting melodies that echo the emptiness of a lost home to surging orchestrations that mirror the turbulent sea, this soundtrack captures the full spectrum of human emotion in times of war. Moments of quiet reflection are interspersed with powerful, driving rhythms, reflecting the resilience and determination of those who refuse to give up hope, although they know their lives will never be the same.
