I fucking hate the level of understand that I grew up with - the lack of empathy, the lack of kindness. And especially how little I cared to question and develop those things. 

This song is, in truth, coming to terms with that aspect of my life. It says "yeah, I grew up in a place that was emotionally confining. but I can't obsess over that."

The huge, outro is practically screaming: "I KNOW IT'S NOT MY FAULT". I'm still learning to move on, and maybe by saying it with more confidence, I will.
