”Generally, I would say that my digging behavior focuses on “cheap” records, which does not mean they are cheap but rather not expensive. ;)
Due to the increasing shipping prices and the unfortunate event of the Brexit (which made the UK market a difficult treasure hunt), I target on 
German sellers or the ones offering cheap shipping options. Discogs is platform No. 1, where I most likely buy the majority of my records from, 
but due to living in Berlin, this is still one of the greatest abundances of record shops, which gives us the great opportunity to support the local dealers 
and collect every kinds of music.
For this selection, 50% are older purchases I made some time ago, but even though those are more or less cheap and affordable (without shipping) 
to get, the other 50% are recent purchases. Usually, I don’t only concentrate on one genre, whatever crosses my way and creates some kind of feeling 
in me, I’ll keep it in mind and save it. Shouts to the Bikiniwaxx Crew for keeping the game real, alive and being great people!”

"This is an old mix of mine, from March 2011 to be precise, before I had a log in on SoundCloud and 'digging' became such a craze. It contains only records bought at bargain bin prices (i.e. 50% or less of their original intended retail cost).

Some of these records came from an early trip to New York City in 2006 (Basking in the Brakelights, $8, Other Music RIP); some from my undergraduate days in Edinburgh (Greetings from Madame Dominique, £4, Underground Solu’shn); many from the various branches of Music and Video Exchange that I obsessively combed multiple times a week in 2009/10 while making a stuttering attempt at postgraduate study in London (Moody Life EP, £4, MVE Soho RIP). And others came from Discogs, somewhat stretching the concept of the series, but the website was effectively a giant bargain bin. And remains one providing you can resist/avoid following hype or trends (often easier said than done).

Although the mix is relatively rough around the edges, with a naive selection compared to 2018 standards, I enjoyed listening back. It reminds me of more innocent times, spent with good friends, learning to DJ together for the love of music without any intention of a ‘career’ in music. Life is full of surprises."

"The podcast was recorded in October 2018 in my home in Berlin on 2 x 1210 and a mixer. It consists of only cheap records that I bought in the 1-10 euro range. The records are both new and old ones that I collected over the last year. Selection wise it  was very spontaneous and unplanned, yet a fair representation of what I would play in clubs nowadays. Hope you enjoy this budget house!"

A tongue in cheek, tripped out one take cut of old Tech house tracks found through endless hours spent sifting through stacks of records in car boot sales, charity shops, old favourite spots and on Discogs & Music Stack. Four of the records here were sold to me by an awkward classical music record trader at a record fair for £5 who had no idea what house music was or how he'd ended up with them !

Majority of the records here are from the early - mid 2000's a mixture of US / UK based labels - cheeky & low end heavy.

"After buying a house with my gf in early 2019 I told myself I’d have to stop buying records for a year or two until we built our savings back up. This was obviously quite the deluded sentiment in retrospect. Countless moments of weakness and ‘exceptions’ later, I shifted my strategy toward ignoring all the $40 hypebeast-bait records on Discogs and letting frugality be the guiding spirit for all future grips. In other words: cheap records only. Since then, I’ve come across more excellent, surprising and refreshing records than any other period of digging I can recall. Bonus: it kicked me out of the human-centipede of ‘digger’ culture and led me toward more unique sounds than those en vogue or that I would have previously played. This mix is a showcase of some of the frugal grippos."

"The records used in this mixtape were actually compiled for the season opening of nightclub HALL in Tallinn, where I was scheduled to play a warmup set to Laurine from Slow Life collective. Due to general circumstances the event was cancelled. But to put the mixtape in the context of this podcast series, I have to say, it actually gives a pretty good reflection of my musical habits. That even independent of the certain moodset that I had visualized given the club night the records were supposed to be played at. In the selection I included both new and old records, as well as a few reissues. The latter is in my opinion a most welcomed phenomena as the records that are being reissued are an excellent springboard for going even further with the original history and related producers, record labels, mastering engineers etc. Most of the music I’ve come across in physical format has been purchased online due to the lack of record shops in my area, as I live in a small Eastern European uni town. There is amazing fresh music being released in these times and to be honest I would love to buy more new releases than I can afford. But as I’m usually doing bulk orders the price of new records is truly a downside. I think my biggest challenge is keeping a healthy balance between the old and the new and not being skint in the process."

“The most part of the tracks for the mix i took from the records which i bought in 2010-2018 in Baza Record Shop which was very nice store located in Saint-Petersburg. They had a great sale before closing and there was a good chance to buy records almost for free. Besides that few records was grabed in a small second hand recordshop in Paris in 2008, i was working in Maison Martin Margiela in Saint-Petersburg at that time and had a nice working trip. The shop also had some new stuff i guess but it was exiting for me to make some blind buyings of the old vinyl and to be honest its a bit not correct to say blind cause actually i knew some of the labels from the bin but i bought it without listening cause did’t have time for that and maybe this records are not the best out of mix but as the podcast name says i would like to use vinyls which i bought in Europe in personal and not via net. Some of the records were purchased on discogs in 2008-2013 and costs around 2euro, funny thing that price on few of them did’t changed through the time but some really grew in price and i decided not to use this records cause it will be like using a cheat code but finally i guess i had 1 or 2 in the mix. Also you can find some tracks which i bought with 80% discount sale price on one famous webshop. 2 records was bought for a cheap from a local dj who are not into club scene anymore, have nice job, wife and kids, not shure that you need this info but anyway. If you still reading here is the last part. The main concept of the selection besides Eurosaver series rules was to make a mix which will be like a johrney to a party and being there from the begining till the end, but its time limit is 1 hour long so it means that the mix have warm up part, prime and morning hours or maybe afterparty part call it as you like. "This mix was recorded in my studio at home in the beginning of April, the first day the temperature rised above 20°c in Berlin and there was an early taste of summer in the air, with two turntables and a mixer in one take.

It encompasses probably more of an afterhour than a peak time vibe, although there are some straight up bangers. It contains records that have been very dear to me, recent and old, some lately acquired, others a long time ago.

There is no record I paid more than 10 bucks for in this mix, many of them came from digging bins for very cheap at the time of purchase, but may be more sought after these days. The objective was to keep a tight beatmixed flow throughout the mix so these are mostly deepish house and techno records in this mix, guess most of them sit right in between.

I hope you enjoy listening as much as i enjoyed making it!"

"I’m always on the hunt for obscure and interesting records. Freaky records that have lots of character and individuality about them. There is no point in paying big money for them because there are plenty of affordable options. I almost never spend more than a few euros on records.

For this mix I’ve put together a selection of varying styles that change back and forth between breakbeat and 4x4 grooves whilst trying to remain sonically coherent and always on a journey tip. In addition to a serious selection I wanted to try and incorporate different styles of mixing and phrasing to keep things interesting.

This took me a little while to put together. For me deejaying is ultimately about sharing and without parties during lockdown I hadn’t been so inspired to mix, instead spending most of my time writing tunes. I had however been steadily building this selection of bangers since April. These went through numerous refinements and finally after dusting off my skills put together in the form you hear here.

"It's about 3 years ago since I moved out from Budapest to Dresden and since then I do visit the Bikini when I have the chance. Sometimes these visits are only a one day long tours, waking up early in the morning to catch a bus to Berlin and move in to the shop for the whole day searching for new records to buy and get a döner for lunch from the mosque restaurant at the corner and chatting with the guys and anybody who step in to the building while I'm there. The set which I recorded includes 12" from the store most of them are really cheap and some of them were cheap at that time when I found them, driving through different styles but tried everything keep groovey. I always wondered to drive a real digging machine so I hope y'all will dig it!
