In the late 90”, he installed a gigantic Olivetti server in the carisbo bank caveau in Bologna’s main square undergrounds, a labyrinth of catacombs, bomb shelters and underground waterways.
Down there he found a dusty mpc 2000xl in an abandoned occupied room, probably an italo disco studio once belonged to Gaznevada, Confusional quartet or Datura? …. Hard to tell.
Randomly pushing a button after one other PETRONIO was born.
A complete music noob with some pretty good dancer’s legs, party after party, club after club, Petronio’s spontaneous house sensibil-ity started to take shape, a fine line between Detroit and the rivi-era.
That cash register became many nights best buddy, burning recording session, kilometers of tape and liters of vodka.
No one is a prophet in his own country, Chicago’s Jordan Fields signs two decades of productions but releases only “the Rainbow” on his Oldschool Grooves Records & tapes.

This is SNGVA004 Capital of Peace, Love and Unity, the latest in Sengiley Recordings series of VA compilations. Ten super fresh tracks deviating from the 4-to-the-floor milieu, showcasing Sengiley’s passion for all things breakbeat.

Up first is L&F, offering us some bass laden UKG badness, followed by Cabale with a tasty slice of piano and pad infused 2-step. Awlies comes through on a sublime and magical breakbeat tip, while Helter lands some twisted yet delightful breaks and bass business. Neathway & Alter hit the halfway mark of the compilation: a tidy piece of jungle action reminiscent of the genres 90s heyday. Up next is Withheld producing a soulful yet energetic drum and bass stunner, followed by Charleeps with a transcendent and acidy yet melancholic electro-breakbeat number. Aevasyon delivers some gorgeous, retro-tinged breakbeat vibes and Talihatta brings the energy down with some clever and subtle downtempo. Finally, Citizen Pablo rounds things off creating an ethereal breakbeat track, wrapping up this superb VA.

Montreal's Parts Project brings the next release on Juncture Music with his Dreamerz EP. Leveraging the practical limitations of performing with a simple live hardware setup, he finds new ways of breathing energy and movement into the experience, while remaining connected with his audience. Exploring this challenge and finding new techniques has been the foundation of Parts Project, all of which can be heard on this EP.

These pieces are more melodic than his previous work. They were first constructed with melody and mood, with the rest built around that. They are reflective and nostalgic, tracing the isolated, urban experience, while maintaining an uncompromising energy throughout.
