Ever since the first time I saw its twinkling purple lights on the playa horizon, I’ve admired the beautiful Maxa deer and held dreams of playing on it. And this year, on the Thursday night, I had the honor of leading the deer from its camp out to deep playa where it would meet countless other animal art cars in an Animalia link-up! There was talks of a storm coming, and as I boarded the deer, it began to drizzle. I said a little prayer, the rain miraculously stopped, and she began to travel. I can honestly say there is no greater feeling than the one I felt for the two hours that followed, playing music on Maxa’s majestic deer while looking out into a crowd of some of my dearest friends smiling and dancing as more animal art cars joined the party. I remember just as I finished my last track feeling so full of joy and gratitude for everyone around me— my friends, the Maxa crew, the people who stopped for a song and stayed til the end— everyone and everything, I felt so completely thankful. And in that moment, it began to rain, the wind picked up and a massive storm rolled in, almost as if to say, “You’re welcome.”

What Is Riot Pop?

This is my fifth EP and by far the most creative and experimental.  I used better microphones, guitars, amps, pedals etc. and this record has the highest sonic definition of all my projects whiles still maintaining that lo-fi glow.  The topics range from getting kicked out of college, to ending romantic relationships to anxieties entering the workforce.  Featuring on the record is Dan Merritt who played guitar on Never Thought, Did I Hurt You? and Consumerist Gods.  Michael Britten played Melodica on Big And Bright.  Nicholas Madsen-Bobadilla created the album artwork.
