YACHT—Young Americans Challenging High Technology—is a post-pop trio based in Los Angeles. They are neither young nor all American. 

YACHT are new wave radio rejects; perpetual outsiders; canny observers; dreamer-prophets who average seven years ahead of their time. Founded in 2002 in the Pacific Northwest DIY scene, they’ve since released seven full-length albums and dozens of singles and EPs, always supplementing their releases with multimedia projects and high-concept experiments. 

An unplayable compact disc, a philosophical handbook, an eyewear collection, a fragrance, an app, a 62-foot video installation: their ambition to make exceptional things is voracious, playful, and limitless. For YACHT, music is a world and everyone is invited. 

YACHT’s seventh album, Chain Tripping, which was composed in collaboration with Artificial Intelligence, was nominated for a GRAMMY Award for Best Immersive Audio Album in 2020. A feature documentary about YACHT’s work with AI, The Computer Accent, was released in 2024. New Release is the first studio album from YACHT in five years. Recorded at their home in Los Angeles, the album is a slice of sly post-pop, playfully occupying a parallel timeline somewhere between 1983 and infinity.

My one love besides my family is music I've been hooked since I can remember, was around music instruments for most of my childhood,unfortunatly I haven't learned to play one yet but one day....but my trued passion is being a lyricist and telling a story. I'm also an artist have been since I was five so I actually visualize the words and hope they paint a great picture in the minds of the listeners. Give me feedback on my music I'm always growing I've only been recordin music for 9 months and I feel I get better everytime I get in the booth. If there is a spare minute in Alex B’s life, it is spent in the studio working on music. His use of a dizzying mixture of analog hardware and newer digital technology give him a signature sound that is difficult to pin down to just one (or two or three) genres. Layers and layers of synthesizer, bass and enticing effects are laid over broken hip-hop and down-tempo inspired beats to create rich textures with a jazz undercurrent.
The lush and dynamic quality of his music is a product of the time and care put into every element. Alex B takes sound design to the level of intricate craftsmanship, where every detail is scrutinized and refined.
