‘Porcupai’ is the lead on the release. It’s a minimal slice a house music, which fuses an ultra-groovy bass-line with a thumping kick drum and some scintillating hi-hats. A guaranteed roof raiser, we’ve got this one on repeat!

Former Bar25 resident, acclaimed DJ and producer and Sender Records boss Benno Blome is back with a brand new EP that features two of his originals and two fine remixes from Okain Haus and Mihai Popoviciu.
Benno Blome is a boundary pusher who always diversifies with each new release and every DJ set. He has put out great EPs like Braitbendnoodles and the opulent after-hour head-movie "Eramina" and here impresses with a deep and infectious house sound. 
Opener Abotha is a nice and steamy cut with soulful pads layered up over soft rubber beats. Little melodic hooks pull you in and vocal murmuring add a steamy sense of human emotion. 

Romanian Mihai Popoviciu has had great success either solo or with the likes of Jay Bliss and has released on labels including Fear Of Flying, Hudd Traxx, Bang Bang and Diynamic. His remix here is slightly more uptempo and slick, with simmering and shimmying chords rolling over the face of the infectious beats. 

Also remixing is Frenchman Okain, who is a Fabric and Watergate regular and who puts out music on BPitch Control, Cadenza and many others. His version of Abotha is more tech, stripped out and freewheeling, with airy hi hats and thin synth lines meandering about to really hypnotise mind, body and soul. 

Benno’s other original is LED, another syrupy, gloopy, perfectly soft and inviting, warm and romantic house groove with gentle synth stabs, smeared pads and lots of late night soul in its bones. Great vocals again act as a nice human hook and it doesn’t take much to imagine the floor going wild for this one. Once again then Benno Blome proves he is a talented producer with many great ideas and more than the skills to pull them off.

Franz Scala was last spotted on Boredllo A Parigi back in 2016 - he makes the move to Bahnsteig 23 for this bold record of synth pop, early electro and much more besides. "Anacondas" has a cheery tone, all sunny synth lines and a laid back boogie rhythm section, while "Thai City" is more like a scratchy beat track for DJs to get clever with. "Shadow Dancer" is one of the record's stand out moments - a muscular pop burner for all 80s romancers to get emotional and funky to. "Rascals" finishes the EP off with some seriously tough drums and some body-popping electro styles that should go down a storm on the floor.

Dubwize vibes are present on ‘Speak For Yourself’, as a roving bassline navigates its way around steady, marching drums and Arabic tones, initiating a most heady atmosphere.  ‘Barocco’ is equally as dubbed out; a cinematic soundscape is set to a dusted breakbeat, nods to Lalo Schifrin are evident, as Ponty carves out a blissful midnight drive soundtrack.

A wigged out, tribal space dance awaits on ‘Jealous Lover’, whilst Jonny Rock (ESP Institute/The Nothing Special) climbs on board with his Future is Now remix that’s suitably freaky in all the right places, as aircraft sounds pass over and tweaky acid bubbles over a chuggy groove.
