You’re first brought into title-track ‘Mirror Image’, a record which leaves little to the imagination within its build up and instead goes all guns blazing straight into its first climatic drop. The cut begins to ramp up with a quick fire speed, featuring a sonic technology that is as intimidating as it is clear cut. It’s a standard Binary hold up for the EP’s remaining three tracks, still going for the throat with every pounding section of drums. ‘Stable’ is slightly more reminiscent of the old-school, with heavy swathes of percussion and a meandering bassline. It presents their neuro-infused touches whilst also opening up a different side of their musical vocabulary. ‘Forced’ comes next, sounding anything but, and giving a softer approach to its sudden explosions of composition. You’re gradually submerged within the aural world of Binary, before every looping drum pattern grabs at you with more and more urgency. Its jiving hook is prevalent throughout, creating club-like atmospherics. Then finally delivered is ‘Transiet’, offering a flipside to their signature and drawing out for a more euphoric set of instrumentals. As a whole, the EP proves the aptitude of Optiv and how he continually strives to find the very best currently within the drum & bass community. Binary are a definite example of that.


Dutch drum & bass producers MissionControl
and Kappie came together last year to present a totally new pseudonym, having both spent time capitalising on their individual skill sets. Their collaborative project Binary sees a fusion of uncompromising, hard hitting production and oozing dancefloor appeal, whilst remaining consistent in their output with an unbridled creativity. Their discovery by fans across the 170bpm spectrum did not go unnoticed by its groundbreaking imprints, with none other than Optiv’s Red Light Records stepping forward to sign their most recent high quality EP. Having already released on the likes of Sample Genie, Raving Panda Records, ION Music, Rustout Records and more, their distinct, forward thinking sound has already paved the way for their forthcoming success. And in being in such high demand, the ‘Mirror Image’ EP is another step towards the unblinking levels they’re still climbing to.

M.I.B. Crew, a new brand in a story from which MUSIC and the elements of DJ'ing will emerge. 

Established in 2005, in Galati, M.I.B. began its career in Graffiti, hardly resisting among haters and painting city walls. Receiving fines over fines or being chased by police and special forces, the crew slowly shrank, frequently changing and losing members, eventually reaching only 2, namely MKE (Jahh Roland) and TRT (Oldskull Fanatiks). By the way, the adrenaline changes shape and the location it’s administered at. 
Turntables, consoles, mixers, power stations or speakers that shake your lungs; MIB kick off 2012 in a new era of electronic music (of course, not giving up the world of Montana Hardcore, graffiti remaining the active basis with which we started to be more than friends). Drum and Bass, Jungle or Break beat, get ready to welcome us with open arms, we can't be stopped!
