A collection of the harder styles coming from the BioStorm kitchen! Inspired by how we did it in the 90's. Influences from a more recent period too of course.

Harder, Faster, Stronger

Exorcism & Invidia - Blindfold

Inspired by one of the most eclectic and fast-paced styles out-there, being Frenchcore, I decided to use French vocals in this track. 

Almost immediately this made me think of the French Revolution and the motto of France. Not coincidentally being the time of the horrific tool the guillotine.

Early in the project the idea to use crowd noises arose. This was a nice bit of research, but in the end it also made it into the final version the way I intended.

Guillotine

Once again, the BioStorm was up for some dark atmosphere, kicking kicks, bursts and breaks. This one is for the hard electronic lovers.

This horror inspired track was completely custom made. Meaning: getting to know my own equipment a bit more. And getting the most out of my synths, samplers and effects.

Even used an old toypiano our family used to play with some decades ago. It seemed to fit :) It's long, loud and hope you like this story about the woods! This fairy tale might not end well!

The Woods

Story of my musical life, starting with one idea, and ending up with a totally different result. Again, production might not be my strength, but I did come up with this boombastic mix of styles.

The initial idea was to find some electro sounds and build a track from that, with some kinda party-feel to it. Well, that idea went out the window soon enough. The track went in the direction of distorted kicks and dark melody, so I went with that.

About the title. According to some people last Saturday was Judgement Day. But that is a nice little coincidence, because I have been working on this since April 19th and did not realize this. Either way, give it a listen. Thanks!


Electronic Apocalypse

What started as wanting-to-use-a-soprano-vocal ended up being this uptempo freestyle electronic track with that specific BioStorm flavour!

Fire Pants

Another manic dark atmosphered track from the BioStorm kitchen! Inspired by the title I thought up first. Having the 'number' theme of the upcoming fourth album.

Started with adding harp, bell, synth and of course the beat. Oh, don't forget the scream and choir for dramatic effect.

Been tweaking it for a while now. Do think of it as a little earworm myself. Enjoy! Comments are welcome! TIA

Replaced the sneakpreview with a 5 minute version. Consider this the final edit! 
Have spent a lot of time on problems with the timing of the wobble, drifting starting points etc. Learned a lot, later on decided to sample bits and pieces to fix that. Made most sounds myself.

Here is a sneakpreview of my latest creation. Not finished yet, it was simply time to share, so hereby!
It has an obvious drum & bass dubstep flavour to it. Why still in progress? Because rush jobs are not allowed in my homestudio :)
Anyway, for now, enjoy the 2 minute musical snack!

Hyper (Final Edit)

A dark hard dance track about the gates of hell. Or so I have been told :p (by a person with lyrics below)

This little thing was inspired by a movie, this happens sometimes. Of course, I always like the choir-sound in hardcore tracks and tension of the darker tales! ;)

So, this basically started with text I had written after seeing the movie. The basis of the track being the choir, kick and recorded custom(!)vocals.

Being a perfectionist, it took me a while to clean it up and get the levels the way I wanted. Did succeed though and happy to share now! What y'all think?!

741 Feet Deep

This track was based on experimentation with multiple fx on a 909 kick. Once I had a dry and more "spring" sounding kick, I went with some distorted lead sounds. Cheering it all up with a breakbeat :)

Once I had an idea for the vocals, being "German lyrics", I came up with the theme of "tempo". This also meant I "had" to put in a tempo-difference of course. Oh, and a metronome!

Also wanted to use a distorted 303 sample in a non-303 way. This was also added to the mix. As well as some wobble and other nice filling sounds. Fooled around with a few buildups, and here it is!

BioStorm is not known to cough up just one particular style. Yes, electronic this is. But this time mostly inspired by hardstyle. Because of that, hardcore dance and trance influences all over the place. Packaged in one track titled 'Manic Melody'.

Played around with buildup, melody and distorted and layered kicks. Adding alienated sounds and the more familiar piano in a bed of effect :) Took the time, got what the goal was. So here's another demo for your enjoyment! Drop a line if you have an opinion worth sharing, TIA!

Manic Melody

This track started out as a quick concept I made while I was making other tracks at the time. In the beginning I had piano, the obvious hardstyle kick and the high synth pattern. Soon after, adding the filtered break, horns and violins. Also came up with some shout-outs (but did not record them yet).

In the meantime I was aiming for the hoover-sound in some other side-project. That sound has been used many times before in history, but it's so freakin' cool, just had to make one myself! Since I succeeded, decided to put it in this track - in several ways.

Have been tweaking it for a while now. And today it's time for sharing! Have a listen and let me know what you think. Thanks!



Powerpump

BioStorm is always inspired by the old and the new styles around him. Ever since hearing the first 303 acid dripping tracks in 1988, he travelled through time via house, techno, trance, hardcore, drum and bass, dubstep, hiphop and pop. At the age of 18 was selling his moped to buy a sampler instead the right move because. Because decades later he's still at it, working from The Netherlands, which is an actual country in Western Europa :) His philosophy is: electronic dance music DOES have a soul and comes in many forms. BioStorm is not about one style, but one universal language.
