An entry of the Birds by Artūras Čertovas aka @art-ras-e. He's a music lover and selector, architect and artist from Vilnius, Lithuania. He's interested in musical oddities, unexpected relationships, obscure grooves and synthesis of (im)perfection. Usually combining genres such as wave, minimal, post-punk, experimental, ambient, pop, and synth sounds, influenced by 80's lo-fi and current times. He has a monthly radio show at the independent community radio Palanga Street Radio based in Vilnius and the Internet.

The book of choice is Fernando Pessoa’s ’The Book of Disquiet’. Reading Pessoa is like looking into a mirror made of words, gazing into the most intimate corners of your soul with the eyes of a stranger. He reaches with delicacy what I consider to be the highest form of literature: the sincere expression of all those emotions and sensations that each one of us have participated in just by the sake of being human, from a sleepless night to the wonder of what’s the meaning of life. 

He casts a light on the darkness of our understanding, for, as he says: 'The entire life of the human soul is mere motions in the shadows. We live in a twilight of consciousness, never in accord with whom we are or think we are. We all have our vanity, and that vanity is our way of forgetting that there are other people with a soul like our own. //  There is an equal, abstract destiny for men and for things; both have an equally indifferent designation in the algebra of the world’s mystery. //  We never know self-realization. We are two abysses – a well staring at the sky.'
