Peryl [live] joins for DifferentSound Podcast #172.

Peryl is the pseudonym of Berlin-based techno producer Dennis Strobel. He has been producing in various directions of electronic music for eight years. Specialising in techno live performances, Peryl is constantly on the lookout for new sounds. Besides different frequencies, cables and transitions, he tries to express himself through his live improvisation in the clubs.

Joton is an essential figure in the Spanish underground electronic scene, having spent over two decades dignifying his profession as a DJ and producer, crafting unconventional sounds that have inspired artists worldwide. Working out of his studio in León, Joton has developed his own style of techno, infused with a classic sensibility that has resonated with fans across the globe. As the founder of Newrhythmic Recs, Joton has supported national and international artists for over twenty years.

As a tireless and prolific creator, Joton has had his work published on prestigious labels such as Fabric, Modularz, Quartz, Odd Even, Symbolism, Planet Rhythm, Raw Raw, Dynamic Reflection, and Skryptöm. His tracks have been played by renowned artists including Ben Klock, DVS1, Rødhåd, Dave Clarke, Ben Sims, Surgeon, Truncate or Go Hiyama.

In 2015, Joton released his debut album, «Casting Out Nines,» a work that received critical acclaim and established Joton as a force to be reckoned with in the techno world. The album was presented in ten countries across three continents, cementing Joton’s status as an international DJ and producer. In 2017, Joton returned to his roots with «R3silient,» an album that explored his purest and most analog side.

In 2018, Joton continued his prolific output with two new works, «Antioquia» on German label ODD EVEN and «Extreme Measures» on RAW RAW. In addition to his DJ and production work, Joton is also a respected educator, offering interactive production courses that help aspiring producers refine their techniques and develop their sound. His latest album, «Hikikomori,» released in 2021, was born from these courses and is a collaborative work that speaks to the experience of isolation during the pandemic.

Over the years, Joton has played at some of the world’s most iconic clubs, including Tresor in Berlin, REX in Paris, Corsica Studios in London, Grelle Forelle in Vienna, Propaganda in Moscow, Domunne in Tokyo, Vault Sessions in Amsterdam, Razzmatazz and Moog in Barcelona, Gare in Porto, Infra in Boston, Drugstore in Belgrade, Under Club in Buenos Aires, Espacio 93 in Santiago, Stardust and Fabrik in Madrid and Sound Department Italy, among others. Joton’s enduring legacy as a producer and DJ has had a profound impact on the techno scene both in Spain and around the world.

The Prague-based DJ/producer is originally from Tbilisi, Georgia and cut her teeth in music from an early age as a guitarist and songwriter for various rock and metal bands. She then began listening to electronic music records coming from Detroit and Berlin which inspired her to start producing and performing. Her sound draws from underground and industrial techno but pulls ambient and dark textures into its orbit too. She has released on labels like Variance, Republic Artists and 951beat and also plays an important role in ONYX (Prague) along with arnii and Fractions. We’ve been a big fan of Ly Sas for some time and thrilled to host this killer set traversing EBM, techno and beyond.

BITE is the Berlin-based techno label co-founded by Hayden Payne (aka Phase Fatale) in 2018. Beginning with the debut collaborative EP by Silent Servant & Phase Fatale, the label aims to platform artists who operate outside the conventional preconceptions of techno and are united by an ambition to push the boundaries of electronic music. This drive is further exemplified by regular showcases at renowned institutions Berghain, Basement, and Tbilisi’s KHIDI as well as a multitude of clubs throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

With a vast artist roster from stalwarts such as Ron Morelli and Teste to contemporary talent from the likes of Pablo Bozzi and Gael, the eclectic variety of releases touches upon a range of styles along the moodier fringes of electronic music. BITE has proved itself as the imprint to watch. Fresh off the heels of their 5 year anniversary in 2023 culminating in the acclaimed triple LP compilation ‘Shedding Skin,’ BITE moves into more dancefloor territory with their next releases by label head Phase Fatale and remixes by Rrose. The display of the music is also represented in its visual prowess with cutting designs and colorways intended to take the sound into another dimension. From proper techno to synthpunk and to sparse minimalist industrial, BITE never fails to deliver fresh and razor-sharp sounds tying together the narrative of dance music.
