BITE announces the solo debut of the label boss himself – Hayden Payne aka Phase Fatale – with his first EP in 5 years.

The New York native and Berlin-based BITE label founder has long made a name for himself as one of the main players on the heavy electronics arena. Berghain and Khidi resident with releases on labels like Jealous God, Ostgut Ton and unterton under his belt.

The EP consists of five tracks canonical to Payne’s signature futuristic industrial style, including a remix by the interdisciplinary artist Rrose. Not deprived of romantic sensibility, and yet with punchy groove and heavy hitting arpeggiations, the record comes together as a flavourful mix of sci-fi-like electro, unsettling vocals, powerful industrial techno, and atmospheric guitar driven wave.

The Brvtalist is pleased to present two premieres from Berlin's BITE records plus an interview with label head and prolific artist, Phase Fatale. Launched in 2018, BITE has become known for releasing modern body, techno, industrial and more, operating in between genres and focusing on cutting edge output. The label is set to release two big 12" - one from Phase Fatale and another from Tbilisi's OTHR. Today we premiere "Nailed to the Net" by Phase Fatale and a great Kris Baha remix of OTHR's "False Promises".

Umwelt knows his craft. From his no-nonsense acid-drenched electro assaults to his more thought-provoking works, the Frenchman can shred speakers as well as soothe souls. These two sides of the New Flesh boss’ sound combine as he returns to Shipwrec with the ﬁve tracks of "Collapsar". Worlds collide in the epic “Galactic Empire.” Beats are lashed with punishing acid rinses as a bold cinematic backdrop takes form. “Collapsar” maintains the grandeur, broad expansive chords stretching above a plain of tight percussion. A frigid stuttering synthline introduces “Reﬂectivity”, a line that breaks into a horizon searching melody punctuated by crisp rhythms and arcing keys. The breadth and depth achieved across the EP is staggering, Umwelt balancing danceﬂoor electro with introspection. This immersive quality comes to the fore in the sweeping soundtrack of “Redemption Ark.” That calm is cracked wide open with the frenetic ﬁnale. “Day Zero” incises from the outset, drums cutting into bulwark of bass before a barrage of keys attack. Exemplary from a master.

Hamburg-based @groemm is giving us the honor to kick off our new podcast series: NEST-Sessions. 

With this fresh start of our mix series, we want to open up space for friends and family of Mamagei to show off their sound, vision, creativity, and passion and increase visibility for artists that we deem worthy of your attention. NEST-Session aims to display all kinds of electronic music beyond the genre norm and allow artistic freedom in all directions.

GRØMM's sound is driving and often rave-oriented. She leads one through day and night with hypnotic rhythms and constant energy.

Thanks to his musical knowledge, he takes every crowd on a journey through sound from old school to modern and all the way back. No matter if it takes two or eight hours.

BITE is the Berlin-based techno label co-founded by Hayden Payne (aka Phase Fatale) in 2018. Beginning with the debut collaborative EP by Silent Servant & Phase Fatale, the label aims to platform artists who operate outside the conventional preconceptions of techno and are united by an ambition to push the boundaries of electronic music. This drive is further exemplified by regular showcases at renowned institutions Berghain, Basement, and Tbilisi’s KHIDI as well as a multitude of clubs throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

With a vast artist roster from stalwarts such as Ron Morelli and Teste to contemporary talent from the likes of Pablo Bozzi and Gael, the eclectic variety of releases touches upon a range of styles along the moodier fringes of electronic music.
