Blocking Behaviours concerns the real-time interpretation of two simulations of complex behaviour through an agent-based system. The simulations enforce a way of thinking that revolves around balancing behaviours. An attitude that considers musical output as something that emerges from an interaction with an autonomous system.

The simulation acts as a generative, rule-based system producing output that is subject to different kinds of observation algorithms. The idea is that evolving processes are set in motion where the creator/composer becomes an observer of various developments. The output can not always be controlled in detail but is instead interpreted and further processed. The interpretation involves a mapping between different modes of representation in order to simplify or combine. In Blocking Behaviours the idea is to explore the boundary of generative behaviour, control and and direct access to computer sound synthesis.

Dave Lojek loves filmmaking. He belongs to the prolific and most often selected directors of the 21st century with over 2053 screenings of his distributions at international film festivals worldwide. His favorite genres are comedy, parody, fantasy, romance, poetry and experiment. Dave also directs documentaries, dramas, portraits, sci-fi, and music videos. His works and distributions won 254 film awards. Dave Lojek graduated with an MA in English / American and Cultural Studies from Humboldt-University in his hometown Berlin. 
In terms of content, Dave's poetic films depict magic, love, death, friendship, loneliness, artists, oddities, escapism, mythology and the everyday. Based on the Homo-Ludens-principle, Dave clearly focuses his often-cheerful work on the universal and timeless. He calls his motivation for filming intrinsic. 
As independent producer, he created / distributed 181 movies in 27 cities in 12 European countries by 2025. Mr. Lojek hosts monthly open cinema screenings in Germany’s oldest cinema and annual film workshops called KinoKabarets with his initiative KinoBerlino. Dave works as film distributor and president of a Film Association. The productions of APEIRON FILMS and KinoBerlino have been broadcast weekly since 2008 (ca. 11.982 times) on German TV and viewed online over 2 million times.

Bjarni Gunnarsson is a composer and programmer whose recent work involves machine listening, database-driven recomposition, real-time network algorithms, and parametric synthesis.

His music has been presented at ICMC, ICLC, SMC, and xCoAx, and performed at festivals including Tectonics, Sonar, Rewire, and Présences Électroniques. Releases include Cendres, Processes & Potentials, UPICS, and Safn 2006–2009, on labels such as SUPERPANG, 3LEAVES, and Tartaruga. 

He teaches algorithmic composition and computer music at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague. He studied computer science at the University of Reykjavík, composition at CCMIX with Gerard Pape, Trevor Wishart, and Curtis Roads, and completed his master’s at Sonology under Paul Berg, Kees Tazelaar, and Richard Barrett.

Composer Contemporary Music

Sibylle Pomorin (*1956) studied from 1975 until 1980 flute and saxophone at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Münster, Germany. 

In 1984/85, she studied composition under Ernst Bechert in Hamburg, Germany and in 1994, she received composition lessons and an introduction to electroacoustic music from the American composer and electronic musician Alice Shields during a six-month stay in New York. 

Between 1982 and 1994 she toured with improvising musicians of the international scene and toured with her own groups and compositions through Europe and Israel. 

She received composition commissions for ensembles, festivals, broadcasting, and theatre as well as numerous prices and awards and was promoted by various working scholarships – inter alia in New York, Istanbul and Iceland. Scores publications and CD releases inter alia by Moers Music and in the Furore Verlag. 

Her music has been performed at international festivals for contemporary music in Europe, Israel, Mexico, Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan and the USA.

Lil Shar is a professional composer, music scorer, and lecturer in basic acoustics, with a formal education from a prestigious music conservatory. As one of the few Glitch music producers in China, I have composed for several well-known games, including Peacekeeper Elite. In 2024, my single “TICKET” was featured in the playlist of the renowned global music label Hexagon. In 2022, I was invited for an exclusive interview by the Plants vs. Zombies 2 game developers, and in 2023, I released a single with the Los Angeles-based record label Mojoheadz Records.

Beyond my work in composition, I have been teaching basic acoustics at Guangzhou Arts High School for several years, sharing my knowledge with over 100 students. My academic background in music technology, combined with years of practical experience, allows me to bring both technical expertise and creative insight into my teaching and production. I am proficient in industry-standard software such as Ableton Live, Logic, Sibelius, Luna, Max, and VCV, and I have a strong foundation in acoustics, sound design, speakers, microphones, and studio setups. My passion for innovation in sound drives my exploration of new media and electronic music production, where I constantly push the boundaries of creativity and technology.
