VANRAY, aka Pete Long, is a solo acoustic artist based in West Yorkshire, recording and performing original material and covers at venues across the UK and beyond.
The driving force behind indie band Moonpump and the alternative electroacoustic act Fie! Fie! Fie!, VanRay has been prolific in terms of penning tunes, with many of the tracks featuring on radio stations around the world.
A typical live set features cover versions as diverse as Soft Cell, Bob Marley, Pixies, Rag N Bone Man, James, Neil Young, John Martyn, The Cure, Blondie, Nirvana, Green Day, AC/DC, TLC, and many more..
The release of the new album AS THE CENTURY'S DEFINED and the EPs The First Circle, Stoplines & Byways, A Stones Throw Away and To The Dark Earth in 2021/22/23 has seen tons of worldwide airplay and exciting opportunities for VANRAY.

I started playing music at a very young age, and fell in love with song writing. To me it's one of the coolest feelings in the world to write a song, and then see other people singing along to it. I tend to "Genre Hop" a little with each song because I love all genre's of music and it's tough to pick a category when I love all of them so much. I have spent many years on many instruments with classical musical training, and a lot of figuring things out on my own. I believe the road to success is paved by failures, but when the destination is the journey, then success is summed up by each valued moment along the way. Since graduating WAAPA in 2015 Mel Kay has so far toured WA & has also been flown out to perform through Big Skye Entertainment. She has toured the Pilbarra, and Darwin twice successfully.

Mel has had multiple songs that she has written played nationally & internationally on commercial radio. Her recent track PHOENIX was nominated top 6/1400 in EDM music in WA at the WAM awards 2019. The song was also picked up by 98.5fm & played nationally on radio show Aussie Grown Across The Nation. A recent international collaboration with UK producer BACKFALL has also made it to the top 12/6000 entries for EDM music in the international songwriting competition: Unsigned Only. She is currently working on a new album ~AFTER THE WAR ~ about healing and overcoming Lyme disease. She is also currently in the running to play The Hollywood Bowl at "We Can Survive" Festival. Voting opens July 11th- So watch this space!
