Victoria Shen's needle nails technique, which was appropriately earlier this summer in a Beyoncé video, is just one of many new approaches to making sounds that Shen (who performs under the moniker Evicshen) uses in her provocative performances and installations. But even though all the sounds she makes, and often all the devices she uses to make them as well, are her own creations, she is ambivalent about describing herself as a composer as she tells Frank J. OCCII - 30 Yrs Screaming at a wall Mix #031

Hour 2 kicks off with Luca Santucci from Stubborn Heart with a Northern Soul special. Almost exactly 15 years after his last mix for Solid Steel, he returns for another go on the wheels. Perhaps better known for his collabos with Leila Arab, Plaid, Playgroup and Matthew Herbert, Luca can nowadays be heard plying his trade as one half of Stubborn Heart. He's done this mix for us to promote the film his brother Marco Santucci has produced, 'Northern Soul', directed by Elaine Constantine. The mix consists of fave tunes out of his brother's 7" box as well as tunes off the soundtrack to the film, which hits cinemas up and down the country on October the 17th.

We finish the show with a mix by Dunk Ballantyne from Tiger's Milk Records to coincide with the release of Peru Bravo, rare Funk, Soul and Psych from Peru's Radical Decade. Music featured includes Laghonia, Traffic Sound and Thee Image from the album, plus more from David Toop, Wolfgang Dauner Quintet and E Rodney jones & Friends.
