Minecraft - Mice on Venus Orchestra

A quick orchestration of the Donkey Kong Country theme. This started of as a slow somber piece, but I changed it up. I wanted to give it a feeling of some kind of epic Donkey Kong Country movie with Donkey Kong preparing for some kind of final showdown. I actually remixed this game's theme when I was a about 12 (I'll post the embarrassment to my informaldummeh channel a bit later). This new one is just a quick doodle to test out some techniques/libraries/newly recorded samples.

An orchestration of Departure from The Legend of Zelda the Wind Waker. It has been a while since my last Zelda orchestration. This one stays pretty true to the original with a little twists and turns here and there and additions by myself. It's an awesome original piece so I didn't want to stray too far.

Zelda tWW - Departure Orchestra

A reorchestration of the Game of Thrones theme. I made it from scratch to test some new sounds and mainly practice. Hopefully I kept the feel of the original while adding my own spin to the piece. It's definitely a lot more brassy than the original but hopefully that works okay.

Game of Thrones (Re)Orchestra

An original piece of music by Blake Robinson. A little ditty I wrote as a demo for Spitfire's Albion 3 to show that Iceni can pull off the softer side of the orchestra just as well as the loud. Tina Guo: Elgar Cello Concerto Mvt. 1 Live Recording

Live recording of the premiere of my composition Windschatten for solo flugelhorn, symphony orchestra and live-electronics. Recorded at the St. Nikolai church on May 19 - 2013 (Pentecost). The recording was done with two mics which were located near to the mixing desk at the left side of the church, so of course this recording can't reflect the spatial aspects of this composition.

The performers change their position during the piece. In section A the soloist is located on stage in the altar area of the church together with a drummer (vibraphone, gongs and other instruments). The conductor, a brass section with 10 players and a drummer (timpanies/woodblocks) are located on the gallery, strings and woodwinds are playing at the back of the church.

At the beginning of section B the soloist moves to the gallery, all brass players walk to the stage and the conductor joins the strings and woodwinds.

During a procession before section C the conductor (occasionally ringing a handbell) and all string and woodwind players move from the back of the church to the stage, some musicians play while walking (2 solo violins, 3 flutes, oboe, english horn and 6 violas), the soloist walks from the gallery to the stage (sometimes ringing a hand bell) where everybody then joins to perform the final section C of the piece. At the end the soloist leaves the church while playing, the last motif is played from outside - the entrance area of the church.

Two shotgun mics are positioned outside the church in a park and at certain spots in the score I bring in the signal. Four speakers are positioned around the public to project the live-electronics, derived from the signal of the live instruments and pre-pepared samples.

During sections A+B a video camera films the conductor and transmits the signal to various monitors in the church to provide accurate synchronization of the musicians.

This was the 5th and last premiere during my artist in residence-season with the Hamburger Symphoniker orchestra in 2012/2013.

The original score written for the Corridor Digital short 'Link's Shadow'. Featuring little nods to Koji's Kondo, this delivers a slightly darker feel to the music from Zelda. This video contains only the original elements I wrote for the short - you can find the other parts (Giant's theme & Dark world theme) on my channel!

Obviously as this was used in Corridor Digital's short, please don't use it in YouTube videos and such - I'm offering it to download just for those that wanted it.

I've been tinkering with music since I was a kid, composing tunes for fun. Nowadays, I mainly write orchestral scores for video games. Alongside this, with an extensive career in the games industry as a tools programmer I've now focused my skills on developing next-generation sample libraries and music software.
