Orchestral Blips

Something a little different this time. These are some weird old pieces I dug out this week that I created years ago (2005, I think) for a Manic Miner remake I was creating to test my game engine. The demo was completed (It's only one level, but you can find a copy at http://paradum.com if you're curious) and I turned 5 or 6 pieces of classical music into weird electronicy style pieces.

Manic Miner 3D

This is an original piece by Blake Robinson. It's a wobbly little original composition written to test out some ideas and experiment with some sounds. It started off as a medieval/ye olden days oom pa pa oom pa pa thing but turned into something else.

An unhealthy obsession

An orchestration of Mad Monster Mansion from Banjo-Kazooie. Grant Kirkhope's soundtrack for this game is really reminiscent of Danny Elfman's work, so I couldn't resist trying another track. I stayed pretty true to the original, but added little twists and turns here and there.

A Collection of Orchestrations : Video Game Orchestrations Vol 1 (Preview)

Dirk Maassen composes wonderful short piano pieces inspired by contemporary composers such as Yann Tiersen and Ludovico Einaudi. 

I took on his invitation to record any of his piano pieces, and told him I would record 'Addio'... just to find out that there was no score! ... So after working directly with him the score was created and here is my take on it.

This song itself is a musical sequel to 'Adventures in your Sleep' from my first originals album. It's always felt like a bit of a theme tune of mine, so I really wanted to approach the track from a different angle. This rendition feels much bigger and bolder. Which one do you prefer - the version on the first album or this new one? Answers in the comments!
