Next in our dotted line of podcast series is muffasa. @nareksimonian is an Armenian music selector who's been searching music his entire life. In his Muffasa project, he comes back to his young years as a drummy junglist. Inside the mix you can find trippy dub tunes alongside with oriental mood electronics, bass music and leftfield inspired by African dancing tribes, spreading rhythms of traditional dance music and spiritual food for all the beings around the globe. The mixtape truly pays tribute to the roots music creators - from late 70's dubs to the present-day marvellous sounds.

February 2016 sees the 3rd anniversary of Houndstooth, and the label mark this with their 50th release. ‘Tessellations’ is a compilation of brand new, exclusive tracks from each of the 14 artists to release on the label.

The release serves to simultaneously trace common threads and highlight tensions within such a stylistically expansive roster.

Presented on a double CD and digitally, ‘Tessellations’ charts a path from Guy Andrews and Aïsha Devi’s widescreen soundscapes and the offbeat electronic pop of 18+ and Snow Ghosts, through the analogue 4/4 pulse of Marquis Hawkes and Shift Work, to Akkord and Special Request’s visceral re-imagining of hardcore.

Tracks from Call Super, Throwing Snow and Second Storey occupy those hard-to-define – yet often most exciting – spaces in between, gluing together the selection along with contributions from House of Black Lanterns, Soft as Snow and _Unsubscribe_.
