Black Light Disco navigated the airwave chicanes to return to myhouseradio.fm with another shopping trolley full of musical goodies to satisfy even the most hungry of appetites. 

Coming straight in from the steam room in BLD Towers to take charge of the first hour was our resident, Goz, who cooked up a hot buffet that'll tantalise your taste buds in anticipation of our very special guests for this week. 

Taking us through the second hour are two stone cold solid house and disco DJs and Producers from Debrecen, Hungary, The Magic Track! 

The Magic Track comprises of Gio and DRJ. Gio was raised on classic house and techno, but was also influenced by the sound of the 80's electro and synth-funk sound. In his twenties he produced Drum & Bass, released more than 50 tunes worldwide and also managed a label called ‘Black   Seeds Recordings’.  After more than a decade of DNB he returned to the disco scene, using all that valuable previous experience and the skills he’d learned to do something new. 

Gio’s partner in crime is DRJ (formerly known as Dr. Juzztice). DRJ was raised on 80's pop, indie, and UK punk and first played as a DJ 20 years ago in local bars community radio stations. Along with his former crew, DRJ was the promoter of a chillout venue at a local festival for more than a decade. DRJ loved playing slower genres such as dub, downtempo and later he was very much into broken beat and nu jazz genres. Although he was always spicing his mixes with some funk he finally fell in love with disco.

Their career as producers started last year with ‘And Friends Records’, and since then The Magic Track has seen releases on labels such as Mango Sounds, Hive, Hot Digits and Furious Mandrill. They also have a forthcoming EP on the massive Tropical Disco Records as well as three vinyl records releasing in 2021. 

Us folk at BLD absolutely love these guys and we are, of course delighted to showcase their unique talent for their debut with us.

Black Light Disco splashed down on the myhouseradio.fm airwaves on Monday 26th July 2021 with Part 2 of our Project Bango takeover special.

Hosting the show from BLD Towers was our resident Goz, serving up a Smorgasbord of tip-top tunes to tickle your tympanic membranes into submission. 

Following on from last week’s superb ‘Project Bango Takeover Part One’ set by Paul Groves, the tag team changes hands this week with Lee ‘Evil’ Smarty entering the ring to provide the soundtrack for the second hour of the show. 

‘Evil’ is also known for a string of respected productions and has released chart topping singles on a variety of labels including Midnight Riot, Disco Fruit, Masterworks Music and Wall of Fame. With worldwide support from tastemakers and DJ’s including the likes of David Morales and Dimitri From Paris, his dancefloor friendly tracks always hit the mark, whilst his skills as a DJ are second to none.

As residents for Shade Disco they’ve played alongside Late Nite Tuff Guy, Dr Packer, Michael Gray, The Shapeshifters, Hifi Sean, Fingerman, Babert and many more, show-casing their versatility and talent to keep hands in the air and bodies moving until the early hours. Combined with their disco-fuelled Saturday afternoon radio show on Stream 101, it’s fair to say the Project Bango duo have proven themselves on both the mainstream and underground circuits and have the ability to raise the roof whatever the occasion.

We’re delighted to have Lee make his BLD debut to showcase his considerable talent and spread the Project Bango vibes on myhouseradio.fm

BLD 26th July 2021 - Project Bango Takeover Part 2 with Goz & Evil Smarty

This week's Spin City Show that aired on myhouseradio.fm 1st August 2021 saw the return of our incredible resident Wahine on hosting duties. For her set, she used a live recording from one of her recent gigs in Atlanta, Georgia. As you would expect, this is another knock-out hour of high-class music. 

For the second hour of the show, Wahine passed the baton over to her guest from the south of France, Alex Visciglio AKA VIGI --an incredibly talented DJ/Producer whose first album, "Rhodes Island" (released late last year on NDYD ) made a huge impression on top taste-makers in the scene. From downtempo to deep house to disco, VIGI's productions are equal parts polished and soulful. This mix was oozing quality from start to end from a guy at the top of his game. I recorded this episode live about 2 hours after getting back from Camp Bestival, my first festival in exactly two years. I was absolutely exhausted so I’m not at my chattiest (probably a good thing!), but I decided to open the show with the absolute banger that is The Spirit by Mighty Mouse, simply because I heard it and danced to it a couple of times over the weekend. That’s right - danced! Dancing’s back, and boy did it feel good! I also mixed up tracks from Dr Packer, Probably Shouldn’t, Mannix, Andy Buchan and a new freebie from myself.

In the second hour It’s my pleasure to welcome back the talented and amazing Wahine. Lauren was a guest on my show way back on Episode 19 in early 2020 and since then, despite covid preventing us ever meeting, we’ve become good friends and spent many hours enjoying music together thanks to the power of internet radio shows and chatrooms. Lauren has impeccable taste in music and is an excellent DJ, but above all else is a wonderfully positive, warm and supportive soul who is always willing to help or offer advice to anyone. The world needs more people like Lauren. 

Lauren’s first appearance on the show was before I started asking for exclusive mixes, so her mix was taken (with her permission) from one already on her soundcloud. So this one is her first exclusive! As you’d expect from Wahine the track selection is flawless and the mixing silky smooth, but the vibe is perhaps a bit deeper than I’d normally expect from her. I like it a lot though, it’s sultry, classy and very funky - it just shows how versatile she is as an artist. Huge thanks to Lauren for a stunning mix!

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
