Moussa Doumbia - Keleya

The second track from Moussa in as many records, and deservedly so.

Keleya is a organ lead, afro-funk bomb with Moussa in full James Brown effect. Taken from the LP of the same title, originally released in 1977 on Pathe, and on 7” by Ivory Coast label SID in 1974. Suffice to say, they are expensive and rare.

Released on 7” in 1974, but very hard to find, and expensive too!

Amadou Balake - Super Bar Konon Mousso

Razor sharp, percussion heavy, guitar lead afro-latin funk.

Taken from the LP of the same name, released by the legendary Sacodisc label run by Lassisi (from Ivory Coast). Sacodisc were the a groundbreaking label experimenting in Afro-Latin crossovers - Balake travelled to the USA in the 1970’s to record with salsa musicians - recording and releasing albums with the likes of Monguito, Labi Sosseh, the great Amadou and Sweet Talks from Ghana.

Moussa Doumbia - Keleya

With ethnic hymns and foreign chants, Luis Rosenberg (@luisrosenberg) came up with something quite different from his usual style. Be ready when he takes a deep dive into oriental grooves, african harmonies and french chansons and prepare yourself to wake up on a distant beach..

Funk Soul Brothers Part 2

Goz aka Mark from sunny West Lothian in Scotland after initially taking on the decks back in the 90s, he has re-found the spark in him since 2014 to start spinning again countless amounts of excellent tunes. A love of quality house, soul, funk, disco, hip hop and all top notch groovy edits he will deliver without fault excellent mix tapes.

He has put together a wonderful mix for us and when you skim through the track list you know you are in for a treat. This will be perfect to go with your early spring after work session, soaking up the last sun rays of the day, while gently tapping your foot to the Goz beats. 

He is part of a three man team along with Chris Tibs and Alex McCue who host The House Theory Radio Show every Saturday night between 8 and 10 pm. The show is part of www.Noisevandals.net and you can tune in via the iphone/Android app or TuneIn app. They also have their Facebook and Soundcloud pages.

More about my guest:
Robbie has been in and around the house scene from its beginnings in his area West Lothian (Scotland). Since then he began djing in clubs around '94 and continued this until 2005 working at Room at the Top in Bathgate beside people like Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Rampling, John Digweed plus many many more and nearly it all beside his partner in crime Martin Malone.
2010 seen Robbie start his own club night Foundation and has been a monthly fixture ever since with the dj's Dimitri from Paris, Joey Negro, CJ Mackintosh, Lenny Fontana plus many more coming to Bathgate.
Radio wise Robbie has been on it for over 5 years but slowed that down after the creation of HoF Radio to work alongside the event Foundation and they have done various shows for other local stations Trax, Pure 107 and GCR over the years.

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.
