Blindetonation serve up another summer sizzler from French artist Sebastien Tex with big remixes by FKClub and Javi Redondo.
DJ and producer Tex brings all the rugged attitude you would expect of an artist on this DIY minded label. His punky disco is visceral and vital and comes on esteemed labels like Correspondant and La Belle Records as well as this one.
First up here is the super title track, a snaking bit of spooky dark disco with a hypnotic lead line. Tension builds around the slap-funk drums and moody bass and the whole thing is sure to get the floor to erupt. Remixing is FKClub, a skilled drummer, DJ and producer who makes mental yet visceral music that draws on anything from rock to acid. His take on ‘Mouniche’ has stiff bass stabs and sic- fi effects making it a turbulent cosmic groover.
Next is ‘The Struggles of Life’, a terrific track wired up with sinewy electronics and percolating bass. Big guitar riffs bring the menace and once the drums drop again this is a rock-tinged disco gem. Madrid’s Javi Redondo is a key player in the Spanish scene who now tours all over Europe with his genre defying sounds. He reworks it into something more urgent, with pumping drums and drunken synths tumbling down the scales to bring a brilliantly off balance feel.
Once more this is a superb package of forward looking club chuggers from Blindetonation.

Javi Redondo started DJing in the late 90s in his hometown of Cordoba in the south of Spain before moving to Madrid, where he still resides today. There he crafted a career that would later help evolve and define Spain’s electronic music scene, making him one of the most significant characters in the Spanish scene today. This trajectory has also allowed him to showcase his eclecticism and musical background with appearances all over the world in clubs like Fabric in London, Rex in Paris, Nitsa in Barcelona, and the fabled Panorama Bar in Berlin. In 2018 Javi made his Boiler Room debut alongside his Correspondant crew.

Javi’s rise began in Madrid’s iconic club Sport where he spent five years as resident DJ and was also responsible for the club’s programming. It was in this 200 person capacity club and its solid sound system that he proved himself a resourceful DJ with a very wide vision. Here he developed his own genre-defying personal style, distinct in his ability to successfully mix down beat rarities with a mixture of different sounds and genres ranging from EBM and techno to post-punk and everything in between.

With that, he secured (2015 - early 2017) a much-coveted spot over at Madrid’s Mondo Disko, which is revered as one of Europe’s finest underground music clubs, where he played alongside some of the biggest names in dance music.

In addition to DJing, Javi’s productions have begun to gain traction in the world of electronic music. He started honing his skills back in 2007 but it wasn’t until 2012 that he became serious about it. Since then his music has appeared on labels such as Dischi Autunno, Motordisc, Rotten City, Meant, My Favorite Robot, Astrolab, and Jennifer Cardini’s Correspondant, which is the imprint that he calls home and where he has released the most music. In the past few years, Javi’s productions found a strong support list including the likes of Dixon, Ben UFO, Laurent Garnier, Erol Alkan, Trevor Jackson, John Talabot, Axel Boman, Andrew Weatherall, Ivan Smagghe, and many more of underground’s music royalty.

Javi worked as music director at Ballesta club in Madrid, a venue that gained international reputation from 2017 TO 2019 and where Javi also worked as a resident Dj. 

At the end of 2019, Javi started a new project as a director and promoter, Daycap. A Monthly daily party in Madrid that became a success since the first edition and is now on standby since the beginning of the pandemic. Bufiman, Ivan Smagghe, Manfredas, and Vladimir Ivkovic were the headliners of the 4 editions of this event that will hopefully be back very soon. 

Javi’s productions and his sets share a particular eclecticism and uncompromising passion for dissimilar sounds that he fuses with ability and technique. His open-mindedness and unique expression is what defines Javi Redondo as an artist.
