I'M HERE, I'M YOU pt. 2

So here we are with Riotvan's second installment of the "Familiar Faces", showcasing what's happening with the label these days (a lot), making label-residents shake hands and welcome affiliated folks to the syndicate. Although this is a 'various artists'-format, the here gathered stylistic approaches and track-turned mindsets make a strikingly coherent body of work. Just another evidence of how Riotvan has evolved into a renowned think tank of likeminded artists and indicator of state of the art sonic bliss. 

Kicking off we find Perel immersing in yet another synth-driven stream, seeking continuation to her latest, widely praised full length-cycle, but this time bypassing Venus or rather "Super Venus" while floating off to other otherworldly dimensions.

Next in line are Black Spuma, i.e. Lauer and Fabrizio Mammarella, demonstrating via "Drumbaeck" what a match in Neo-Disco-heaven they are. A highly energetic beat, laying the grounding for a cheerful synth-hook and harmonies you won't get out of your head anytime soon.

Same goes for "Tropical Redux", the follow up by none other than Panthera Krause. A particularly elated affair, carried out by a funked up bassline and a catchy string-theme, sticking its neck out in Disco-realms, while maintaining a primetime-adjusted groove.

At this point it's about time for a premiere. Say hi to New Hook, an all-female power-force with their debut release. "FXART" comes as a well-versed exercise in reviving frigid 80ies leanings with a contemporary urgency and attitude. And that's just a glimpse on what's to come from Linda, Ilka and Juliane.

Chinaski, definitely no stranger to the Riotvan family, is taking on the 80ies vibe and hands in "Zeichen der Zeit", an unhasting ride through various galaxies, combining nostalgic synth-aesthetics with spaced out futurism.

Closing things off, it's label-mainstay Jennifer Touch cutting deep with "Bleed", an almost existentially emotive composition, exploring spiritual abysses lyrically, re-modelling emotional chaos within the overtones of the arrangement and even trimming things down to physical functionality within the track's progression.

Blindetonation serve up another summer sizzler from French artist Sebastien Tex with big remixes by FKClub and Javi Redondo.
DJ and producer Tex brings all the rugged attitude you would expect of an artist on this DIY minded label. His punky disco is visceral and vital and comes on esteemed labels like Correspondant and La Belle Records as well as this one.
First up here is the super title track, a snaking bit of spooky dark disco with a hypnotic lead line. Tension builds around the slap-funk drums and moody bass and the whole thing is sure to get the floor to erupt. Remixing is FKClub, a skilled drummer, DJ and producer who makes mental yet visceral music that draws on anything from rock to acid. His take on ‘Mouniche’ has stiff bass stabs and sic- fi effects making it a turbulent cosmic groover.
Next is ‘The Struggles of Life’, a terrific track wired up with sinewy electronics and percolating bass. Big guitar riffs bring the menace and once the drums drop again this is a rock-tinged disco gem. Madrid’s Javi Redondo is a key player in the Spanish scene who now tours all over Europe with his genre defying sounds. He reworks it into something more urgent, with pumping drums and drunken synths tumbling down the scales to bring a brilliantly off balance feel.
Once more this is a superb package of forward looking club chuggers from Blindetonation.

ETANE is an alias for Evgeniy Tanaisov, the producer and DJ from Saint Petersburg, Russia. He curates the dark disco syndicate ‘Oberwave’ and keeps himself busy residenting for the electronic community ‘Intertrax’.
Evgeniy started his musical career back in 2016 as a resident DJ of Mishka bar in St.Petersburg. At the beginning ETANE produced an atmospheric electronic music, however later his musical preferences has gradually changed towards "the darker sides" of disco & house, EBM & new beat. In his works ETANE refers listeners to the musical aesthetics of the 80s, urban themes and esoteric, ethnic motives.

The Kech is a musician, DJ and producer based in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. He has been creating and playing music for more than 15 years. The first parties at which he performed he was only 16 years old. During his sets, the seasoned but still young artist likes to explore many a genre, such as Electronica, Techno, Disco and House. For his debut on the acclaimed French label ESTHÉTIQUE, "Shout EP", he brought his dark side to light delivering three outstanding originals and received two mighty remixes by Connor and Daniel Monaco (SXDNS137/FREEDL006).

The 120-BPM original title track had its energy and vibration slowed down - but not diminished - by Mr. Monaco, one of the most requested collaborators of the new Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene. His 104-BPM remix succeeded in keeping the intensity of the original, even with such a downtempo interpretation. The menacing guitar riffs and the sharp acid layers are still there, enhanced, we dare to say, by the unhurried pace the prolific Italian producer applied in his version. The beautiful synth pads and the ethereal vocals added by Daniel brought even more melody to The Kech's solid work.
