Seattle's Mark McCarthy a.k.a. DJ Gotek emerged out of the exploding Electronic Dance Music scene in the Pacific Northwest over the past decade+, and has held residencies at some of the hottest DJ clubs in the NW such as The Underground, Club Contour, and Foundation Nightclub in Seattle and Whiskey Bar in Portland, and also has played at an ever growing list of clubs and venues on the west coast. Specifically noted for his euphoric, uplifting, and melodic Progressive and Trance sets over the past decade, DJ Gotek has found himself being invited to open for some of the world's most prolific and iconic Trance and Progressive DJ/Producers, artists such as Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Cosmic Gate, Sunny Lax, Genix, Solarstone, 4 Strings, Aly & Fila, ARTY, Ilan Bluestone, Super8 & Tab, Omnia, Ronski Speed, Orjan Nilson, Roger Shah, Chicane, The Blizzard, Lange, Daniel Kandi, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Gareth Emery, MYON, Max Graham, Andy Moor, Richard Durand, Bobina, Stoneface & Terminal, John OO Fleming, Simon Doty, Dezza, the list grows ever longer.. DJ Gotek always strives to create a feeling of euphoria with his mixes which are consistently heavy on the dreamlike and spine-tingly electronic sounds, regardless of which genre he’s playing in; Mark’s passion is to move people by bringing the very best in in Trance and Progressive to his audiences, and hopefully it shines through in the mixes he creates.

Note: Mark only uses AIFF lossless quality tracks mostly purchased at Beatport.com (except for producer demos). All mixes were either recorded live in the club or directly from Mark's gear (DJM A9 Mixer, 2 Pioneer CDJ3000's) recorded on a Zoom H4n Pro in WAV format, then professionally sound leveled post-recording, Voice ID Tagged, and  converted to MP3 by Chris Dececio Studios in the UK. EVERY single mix on Mark's Soundcloud was recorded live and in the moment on top-notch Pioneer DJ gear, not mixed with computer software, so they might not be exactly perfect 100% of the time, but they are "real", which is a standard of mix quality, authenticity, care, passion for live mixing, and DJ integrity Gotek is proud of. =)

From stealing his parents Motown 45s to spin on his Fisher Price Turntable as a young child back in the 70s . . .

. . . to using a splitter with two Walkmans to mix tapes at house parties in the 80s (Then moving to Discmans in the 90s and eventually to iPods in the 2000s)

Going mobile with his trike and/or trailer at Burning Man, or Pedalpalooza as well as some local street fairs and parades, he'd blow minds (and Bubbles) while rocking the spirit with some radical "Time-Based Art" accompanied by a Funky-ass musical soundtrack.

Taken under-wing by one of his favorite humans, fellow dancer and all around amazing DJ, Manoj, after hearing Diablo play (the old school way, with two iPods) at a mutual friend's Birthday Party, Manoj offered to begin training to help Diablo improve his transitions (that is, learn to beat match) and after many years and much practice Diablo -Dirty Diablo is beginning to take it to the next level . . .

Bitten hard by the community radio bug after getting on air BMIR - Burning Man Information Radio (Black Rock City, Nevada -94.5 FM), he's carried that passion back to his home town and the local Listener-Powered, Non-Corporate Community Radio Station - KBOO Community Radio, (Portland, Oregon- 90.7 FM) where he is starting a new biweekly late night show: The Sacred Circle "TEMENOS" -Radio Show -
