The St. Louis-based band’s debut album, “Your Friends,” has a web of nostalgia that connects its rhythms to bands such as the Vaccines, Arctic Monkeys, and even back to the 90s’ Britpop and lo-fi scenes. Lead singer Noah Gregory’s sprechgesang vocals, combined with the varying heights and rhythmic solos across the album’s tracks, brings similarities to songs such as “Beetlebum” by Blur and “Zürich is Stained” by Pavement. The lyrics throughout “Your Friends” are deeply personal—brief yet powerful, akin to former Black Country New Road lead singer Isaac Wood’s writing style.
