Mont Lake Records return to the record stores with their fifth release. The Austrian outfit have kept true to their word of pushing quality over quantity. Releases remain infrequent, but the standard does not falter. The latest in the vinyl only series features a full EP from DJ Honesty alias Honeydrop.

The Portugal based artist is long since known for his affiliation with Cabinet Records. With over 20 years of making music under his belt, his sound has been primed and developed. The Honeydrop project has moved with it. And with longevity comes expertise, making this four tracker an impressive addition to the Mont Lake platform. Pixel82 talks about this work, which was produced during a time of forced introspection and uncertainty, as a rediscovery of the past to find the future. He wanted to create an uplifting vibe for the songs on the album while still having a subtle dystopian feel in them.
To achieve this sound, he experimented with polarities and used sounds that are personal to himself including organic sounds from nature and even from his personal life with the use of a recording of the heartbeat from his own daughter.

During the nine-track expedition, the artist creates an honest tour de force, without the constraints of making dance floor shakers and the end result is a highly effective trip that electronic music lovers around the world will adore, not only for listening but also with various moments that will work wonders on the dance floor. Each track is carefully crafted to play off the other with lively alluring synths, eclectic beats, and clever use of vocals throughout the album that seals each track together cohesively.

Beginning with “Breaking Free” its creative use of vox paired with uplifting synths sets the mood of the album that leads to the title track “Infinity”, an underground pop venture with the same feel-good vibe but with catchy vocals that are sure to be stuck in the listeners head long after hearing it. Then the broken beat tracks “Beyond” and “Alien World” whisk you off to strange new worlds with interesting broken beat drum patterns and synths that keep the same harmonious vibe as the rest of the album. Moving on to the second half of the album “The Grid” takes you straight to the dance floor with bouncy synth lines and tight grooves that is sure to keep the energy high. “Space” and “Sunset” present the liveliest tracks on the album that are perfect for those early morning sunrise moments if used in a set but also very pleasant to the ear for home listening. Arriving at our next destination to slower jams with “Music Box” the minimalistic approach to the drums along with the pleasant melodies keeps everything woven tightly together until finally arriving at our final chapter. “Theta” brings everything effectively to an end with an ambient beatless experience that brilliantly wraps up the release and will keep the listener coming back for more.

The final message of the album leaves an impression of hope through the title “Infinity” that comes from what the artist calls a simple idea of a loop, the continuum of life, togetherness, and union, which he has seamlessly expressed through his own experience during a time of the unknown. As the listener takes an intimate tour of the album’s soundscapes, they will surely find the light at the end of the tunnel, either at the intimacy of their own home or on a sweaty dance floor.

Joining the Mont Blossom Music Group at this year’s Gans Anders Festival (22-24 September in Austria), is Portuguese DJ, Sergnho.! An integral part of Portugal's vibrant music scene, he’s set to showcase his distinctive blend of spacey and stylised house music, promising to captivate the audience with his unparalleled blend of expression, passion, and innovation. With an impressive track record of wowing crowds throughout Portugal and Europe, Serginho has rapidly emerged as a prominent figure in his homeland. Noteworthy collaborations, including the duo "Blá Blá Blá" with André Mecre, and partnerships with Carlos Fauvrelle and the Austrian label Blossom Kollektiv under the Mont Blossom Music Group, have even propelled him onto international stages in Austria, Spain, and Germany. Biotop proudly welcomes Indian ambassador Pawas back to the label. One year after his acclaimed Versus Vol.1 EP, he’s back with the follow-up, Versus Vol.2 - this time accompanied by two very good friends.

Pawas kicks off the EP with Else, inspired by the open air club of the same name run by Berlin’s Wilde Renate crew. After a few hours dancing the day away with his favourite DJs, Pawas felt a strong wave of motivation and followed it straight into his studio - located in the Renate building just across the Elsen bridge - to write the song.

For the second track, Pawas teamed up with another precious Biotop artist: Mastra. Their track together, In Your Love, is a very special tune, with every musical element played live by the duo at Mastra’s analog cave in Bern, Switzerland. The final gem, Musk, delights with its disco influences, produced by Pawas and his Indian friend Gokul Rao Kadam in Bangalore, India.

Pawas Vs. Mastra - In Your Love

Marquis Hawkes has today shared the first track from his forthcoming EP, ‘Don't U which features vocals from Ursula Rucker’, due out on the 29th June on limited run 12" vinyl as well as digital and streaming services. The lead single will also feature on his upcoming second album, set for release later this summer and with more details coming soon, it will follow his critically acclaimed debut ‘Social Housing’ from the summer of 2016, and a string of releases on Will Saul’s AUS Music label. 
 
Lead single ‘Don’t U’, an intuitive high-energy club track that wears its heart on its sleeve, features American spoken word artist and activist Ursula Rucker who captures a moment of divine elevation on the dance-floor. The EP also features three more dance-floor focussed, DJ friendly remixes from Hawkes himself.
 
First emerging as Marquis Hawkes in 2012, after being sought out by the founders of Glasgow label Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, and having previously been heavily involved with the free festival soundsystem culture, the London born artist’s iconic sound has taken shape with the influence of house and techno from cities like Chicago, Detroit and New York alongside the UK’s underground dance scene.
 
Back with a bang, ‘Don’t U’’s effortless marriage of classic slamming house and grittily soulful optimism is sure to become an instant dance-floor epic, which will pave the way for Hawkes’ much anticipated second full length later this summer.

Blossom kollektiv is proud to present a fresh new release to continue showcasing the eclectic new direction of the imprint's musical identity. This time inviting Germany-born, Austria-based DJ and producer Conntex, for a proper techno EP titled “Sonic Seduction”. The four-track voyage takes the listener on a journey through many distinct but solid representations of the techno sound.

 

To get things started the release kicks off with “Serenity” a deep and dubby techno wonderland with pulsating beats, moving percussion and classic dub stabs that weave together seamlessly to create a firm foundation for the rest of the release. Transitioning into the next piece “Feeling of sublime” we are transported directly to the front of the dance floor with this straight techno groover. A punchy kick paired with otherworldly synths and funky percussion keeps the energy up, which is bound to keep the listener moving as if in a psychedelic trance within a strange new place.

 

Moving along to “Liminal” another deep techno-utopia catches our ears with a pumping kick drum that is paired with precisely placed percussion that keeps the groove moving with brute force. This paired with the occasional and clever use of minimalistic vocals is perfectly placed within the arrangement that keeps things shifting until the true surprise of the track comes at the breakdown. The brilliant use of the beeping of a heart monitor within the composition effortlessly bridges the gap between breakdown and the final arrangement of the track.

 

Wrapping up the release with the title track “Sonic Seduction”, Conttex delivers one more fresh flavor of techno. A sinister bassline paired with seductive and well-placed vox sets the mood for the track until the kick and tribal percussion comes into play establishing a strong infrastructure. The groove continues to build until the surprise dubby synths come to play at the end of the arrangement tying everything together cohesively and returning to the vibe created from the very beginning of the release.

 

To complete the package the EP comes paired with four stellar remixes to take the listener even further into the abyss of sonic auditory delights with remixes by Rydim, ALPI, D_Roots, and Egotot. Each remix presents an eclectic flavor of electronic soundscapes that perfectly round out the release, from deep techno and broken beat to slow experimental shamanic drum sequences that propel the release into an exciting new direction while keeping the spirit of the original EP.
